Science is a practical subject and all students at Bellahouston Academy should have the opportunity to experience an engaging and motivating hands-on science education.

Practical work gives students the necessary skills for higher education and employment, deepens their knowledge of scientific ideas and enables them to engage in the processes involved in the study of Science.

The Bellahouston Academy Science Strategy has two important purposes:

1. To ensure that Bellahouston Academy students entering the Scottish workforce of the 21^st century have the knowledge and skills necessary to contribute to economic, scientific and technological development;
2. To allow Bellahouston Academy students an understanding of scientific and technological approaches and evidence gathering, so that they will be able to make informed decisions on any topical scientific and technological issues they become aware of as they go through their lives.
