P7a’s STEM Week!

This week P7a have taken part in various different activities to celebrate STEM week.

STEM stands for – Scientist Technology Engineering and Maths.

On Monday we took part in an experiment which involved static electricity, a balloon, a fork, tin foil, a glove, and our hair! We had to rub the balloon on our hair and then press the fork onto the balloon. Once we had done that we had to press it with our fingers and see the reaction. We had to make sure we didn’t touch it with the gloved hand, otherwise it wouldn’t work! It was meant to create a small shock a bit like lightening.

On Tuesday we made windmills using card, a pin, blu tack and gummy paper. We powered the fan by blowing on it.

On Wednesday a scientist called Gill came in and taught us all about vaccinations and how they work.
“Vaccinations are to keep you protected from diseases such as the flu” – Lewis

” I liked the balloon activity the best” – Logan and Maks
” I enjoyed the windmill  activity  because I liked the way it spun around and around” – Skye

Please enjoy some of our photos from STEM week and have a wonderful weekend!
