Things get chilly in p7
Throughout our topic we found out that Climate change could heat up the Earth and cause huge floods. We like to make sure what we’re reading makes sense so we set up an experiment and wrote up our reports to show what we did:
Each group created a mini version of somewhere on Earth – Lyla’s group did a tropical island and Chloe’s group did Glasgow.
Then we added our “sea” and the “polar ice caps” and moulded some very cute penguins and polar bears who depend on the ice to live. We popped them on top of our ice. We recorded the “sea” level over 2 days.
On the second day we came into class to see that Glasgow had flooded and our tropical island was not underwater! The ice caps had melted, making the sea level rise. This flooded the land as we hypothesised and also meant that our poor animals could not survive.
Thankfully we have been learning all about how to slow down climate change so that animals and people can adapt quick enough to survive. We are going to grow up to be the generation that puts a STOP to climate change…. just watch this space…
