Let’s get groovy!

We have been learning about fractions and how to share things in equal parts! We have continued to use this knowledge and we are beginning to understand where fractions are placed on a number line.

We started with a full piece of newspaper: we used this piece of newspaper as a dance floor! To make the dancing harder we folded the newspaper in half, then half again. Therefore we were dancing on 1 half of the newspaper and then 1 quarter. The clever boys and girls in primary 4 recognise that the newspaper got smaller which means that 1/2 and 1/4 are less than 1 whole.

“It was really fun!” Emily

“It was challenging when the newspaper got smaller.” Chen Min

“When the newspaper got ripped some people started sliding!” Kyle

“It was exciting because it was the first time we had done it.” Harley

“IT didn’t make any sense at the start but it made sense in the end.” Leigha

“We got our groove on!” Jamie
