Sense Over Sectarianism Workshops

Over the past three weeks both the Primary 7s have been working with a P7 class from St Martha’s Primary School to explore and learn about sectarianism. During our second workshop everyone had to work together to create an A-Z list of words or phrases that come to mind when thinking of sectarianism.

The groups realised that a lot of the words are negative which highlighted the negative impact sectarianism can have on our community.

The groups then looked at something called a Circle of Influence which shows the different people that can influence our decisions and views, and as one big group we had to put this into an order.

Finally during our third workshop we went to visit St Martha’s and  we collectively came up with different ways that we could tackle sectarianism as a school community as well as part of the larger Glasgow community.

Everyone worked really well together and shared a lot of mature and responsible ideas. We are all getting stuck into Divided city by Theresa Breslin which shares a similar theme, and so far are absolutely loving the story.

Well done P7!
