A Busy Week for Primary 6

Primary 6 have had a very busy week organising Road Safety Week for the whole school. On Monday we designed a Road Safety pledge poster some of our pledges included; making sure adults do not use their mobile phone while driving, to always wear a seatbelt, making sure that we do not distract drivers and reminding drivers to stick to the speed limit.

On Tuesday we completed lots of Road Safety activities in the classroom including an interactive Guess the Speed Challenge where  had to decide if they cars were driving at 30mph, 40mph or 50mph.

On Wednesday some pupils visited primaries 1-3 to help them design a bright and colourful outfit. This was to highlight the importance of wearing florescent and reflective clothing during the winter months, so that drivers can easily see children during the dark mornings and evenings. Others visited Primaries 4-7 to deliver a Road Safety presentation and a quiz. All teachers were very impressed with the activities that the Primary 6 pupils carried out in each class and the Primary 6s thoroughly enjoyed their responsibilities.

On Thursday we set up a role play activity in the gym hall. We had three different types of road crossings including a zebra crossing and pelican crossing set up so that children from primary 1-5 could test their green cross code knowledge. It was a tiring day but we had a lot of fun!

Today we delivered an assembly to the whole school explaining why we had organised all of these activities. Also, to remind everyone to think about finding a safe place to cross roads and to use the Green Cross Code every time.

This week two children from our class visited the Emirates Arena to take part in a badminton festival with other children from Glasgow schools. They had the chance to play badminton and watch a professional match.

The dance team ‘D Block’ took part in a dance competition at St Roch’s Secondary. They were chosen as the overall winners and will be taking part in a competition in the Summer!! A huge congratulations to them.

Overall it has been a successful week for Primary 6 and Miss Chesney is very proud of her class!
