Stories and Christmas Lunches!!!

We had to wait for our Christmas Lunch and it took ages but that was because the infants got their food first! Some of us thought it was unfair but we eventually got it and loved it!  Pulling crackers and telling jokes.  One of the jokes was “What does a frog drink?” ……”Croak-a-cola! HAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Later on in the afternoon, we went into the Santa’s Grotto to listen to Miss. Li read “Coraline.”

Topic: Constructing our own European landmarks

We have been researching and designing our own landmark for a chosen country over the last 3 weeks.  We have finally come to the constructing stage where we have to now make a landmark either 1 metre long, or 1 metre tall, and can only use the materials that we are given. Lots of problem solving and thinking involved! As you can see, we are all hard at work.

Christmas Fayre @ School!

Today we had our annual Christmas Fayre. Many thanks to everyone for their donations and help to make it a successful and excitable afternoon.  We all bought games, cakes and loads of candy! Our bellies are all now filled with chocolates and other goodies! Here are some photos:

Christmas Unwrapped @ The Salvation Army

We went to the Salvation Army for the afternoon to learn about some of the Christmas stories and what some people hope for and get at Christmas. Then we made some tiles to give to our family and friends! A big thanks to the Salvation Army for everything

P.E: Cosmic Yoga

We have been doing Dance and Ball skills for P.E. but today the hall was being used for an assembly rehearsal so we made the most of KEEPING ACTIVE. Miss Li took us outside to run for 10minutes (non-stop!) and then we came back into our classroom to do some “Cosmic Kids Yoga: Harry Potter” to cool down and stretch our muscles out from the running.

Topic: Research Skills

We have all been hard at work researching a country in Europe.  Our researched countries were either; France, Ireland, UK, Belgium, Spain or Italy.  There was a lot of information out there to learn about – the food, the languages, the country’s rulers, the architecture, the geography and so much more!

Fields of Life: Visitors

We had some amazing visitors today! They told us how lucky we were to get a free education compared to them. You can find out more about them through this link :

Homework: Thursday 23rd November (Completed)

Topic: Europe and The European Union

The children can post their “notes” and research as a comment if that is easier. However, the blog will not allow photos to be posted.

Please DO NOT COPY chunks of text off books or the internet – try and put your notes into your own words 🙂

Suggestions for where to research:

Maps, libraries, newspapers (travel section), travel agencies, friend’s travel photos, the internet, travel magazines, food packets from the supermarket…

P.E: Staying active with dance…

We have been doing some dance this term for P.E. We are learning that dancing has transferable skills like coordination and refining our movements. Something that we could use in other sports i.e. football.  Dancing is not only for girls; as some of the children have suggested so we spoke about famous male dancers in the world. We also agreed that the most important part was “TO STAY HEALTHY AND ACTIVE!” Here is a short clip of us doing some awesome dancing:

…and here is the dance they were doing:

Halloween Happenings!

Please watch our video for activities throughout our Halloween Parade Afternoon:

And here are photos of some of our costumes. Winners this year for best costume were: Ike (Plague Doctor) and Abi (Harley Quinn) 🙂

Trip to Amazonia

We were learning about the Rainforest and Conservation in Term 1 so we tied off our topic with a trip to Amazonia (an indoor rainforest).  The Amazonia guides showed us the different animals and insects that live in the different layers of the rainforest, and we got to answer all the exciting questions about how animals adapt to the climate. Some of the children in the class had amazing ideas about how to conserve and protect rainforests! We also got to handle a tortoise called Shelly, a snake called Amber, and a lizard called Bubbles. Some of us were a little bit scared but we gave it a go. Have a look at our video and see if  you can share your learning with your friends and family 🙂

Homework: 2nd November (completed)

Welcome back to the new term!

Using your VCOP (vocabulary, connective, opener, punctuation) skills – could you write 1-2 short paragraphs about your October holidays (October 13th-22nd). You should include the people you spent it with, where you went, what you did and how did you feel about it. Don’t feel limited to writing just one event, write as many as you wish. We are aiming to up-level our writing, and share our holiday stories 🙂

We are looking for longer sentences and challenging vocabulary,:

For example:

  1. ) I went swimming.

2. ) On Saturday, my best friend and I went swimming at the leisure centre nearby.  We were absolutely exhausted after two hours of being in the pool.
