STEM: Building bridges with unconventional materials

Our class’ main topic this term is on “Making a Movie” but we are also exploring some engineering/technology.  We have been looking at bridges, their structure, the types there are and their purpose to the world.  Today we were told to “put on our thinking caps” and experiment with different joins/connections/support mechanisms for bridges, and make a bridge ourselves.  It is an on-going project.  The materials that we have been given to do this include: spaghetti, lollipop sticks and rubber bands.  The success of this STEM challenge is for our bridges to support one bag of 1kg sugar at the end of it.  Here are some photos of us working hard and collaborating as a team.
