We had a little discussion about the rainforest. We started off with Reece…
Reece: We need rainforests because if we never had a rainforest then we wouldn’t have any medicine, and we wouldn’t have a lot of trees.
Ahmed: We need rainforests for the wood to make paper and rubbers.
Asfhan: We need rainforests because there won’t be any meat for McDonalds.
Sam: I agree with Reece, Ahmed and Asfhan because we need oxygen from the rainforest.
Ahmed Alhu: I agree with Reece because if we never had medicine we wouldn’t be able to find cures for diseases.
Rithika: If we didn’t have any rainforests we would have less chance of surviving because they contain lots of oxygen and water.
Macy: I agree with Sam , Reece and Rithika because the rainforest has lots of plants which have oxygen and lots of trees in the rainforest that you can make medicine with.
Amelia: I agree with everyone who said we need rainforests because 50% of the world’s animals live in the rainforest, and we also need to learn about the tribes.
Abi: I agree with everyone that said we need oxygen because if we never had oxygen we wouldn’t be able to breathe – there wouldn’t be any plants.
Eva: I agree with Abi and Rithika, and Macy because if we didn’t have the rainforest the people in the rainforest wouldn’t be able to find food and have medicine, and that’s their homes. Also, if there were no trees they wouldn’t be able to breathe.
Petar: I agree with everyone who said we need rainforests because if we don’t have rainforest then there won’t be much trees. If we don’t have trees it will be dirty and it won’t be healthy for us.
Iona: We need rainforests because of the plants, and if we didn’t have the plants we wouldn’t have oxygen because plants produce oxygen, and I know this because we did an experiment with leaves in water and if it had bubbles it had oxygen.
Fatimah: Rainforests are important, without them we can’t survive and some people will be sick and they need medicine, and if there is no rainforest there is no medicine, and the people will die.
Abdull: I agree with Asfhan because if we did not have meat we couldn’t survive ’cause most of the meat we get is from the rainforest.
Adam: A rainforest is important because, well, it has everything you need that’s important.
Hala: I agree with Eva because it won’t be fair if we didn’t have a home and if we took all the trees away, it won’t be fair. The people in the rainforest don’t hunt us so why are we hunting them?
Khadijah: I agree the rainforest is important because if we never had any plants the animals wouldn’t survive and neither would we.
Ike: I think that if we don’t have rainforests then we wouldn’t be able to make important things like medicine, or paper, or have that many animals.
Sarwand: I agree with nobody because I would rather live in the rainforest; it’s hot and this country is cold, and you’re allowed to play, and you can make a tent in the rainforest.
Jay: I agree with Asfhan because if there wasn’t meat, I would be so sad, I mean… McDonalds.
Ike: And we need to protect the rainforests because there are people living there and they need that space as well. We could stop cutting down trees.
Reece: I agree with Ike because if we cut down the rainforest the people that live there wouldn’t be able to make any houses and what we can do to help is…. set a fundraiser!
Sarwand: I agree with helping by helping them hunt for animals.
Abdull: I agree with Reece because they shouldn’t be cutting down the trees because that’s where they chose to live and it’s bad cutting down their personal space.
Macy: I think that we should stop hunting for people in the rainforest because we need to be considerate; think about the people in the rainforest – they have to build their own homes!
Iona: I agree with Reece because we should set a fundraiser to raise money for the people in the rainforest to help them get better houses and move into cities.
Rithika: I think we should have a special rainforest Charity so people can donate to them for an education, good food and clean water, and help them live in comfort.
Sam: We should donate money to the rainforest or the government to stop trees being cut down.
Petar: I think we need to grow our own trees because it’s not going to be very good to cut the trees in the rainforest and their people will be sad.
Amelia: I don’t really think that we should cut down the tribe’s homes or destroy their houses because we don’t go up to peoples houses and destroy it. They never did anything to us!
Eva: I agree with Amelia because we can’t destroy their houses. It’s their house! If they didn’t have any houses, where would they live?
Khadijah: We should not hunt for their food and cut down their trees because it is not good and they wouldn’t like it if they did it to us.
Fatimah: It’s not fair to cut down their trees, and they’re not cutting our trees or destroying our houses, but we are destroying their homes.
Ahmed Alhu: If we cut down their trees in the rainforest and endanger the tribes, the people in the rainforest, there wouldn’t be much meat, food or medicine for us.
Abi: I don’t think we should kill other tribes they don’t kill us, and it wouldn’t be fair if we had a life and they didn’t.
Hala: Don’t just go to them and cut their trees! How would we feel if they did it to us?
Ahmed: We shouldn’t kill them and their animals in the rainforest because we have enough animals in our country.
