Homework Week 21.09.2020

Hi,

We are trying to make homework digital so the children can stay in the habit of learning online in case we have to lock down again.

From now on, we will be using Microsoft Teams to send and receive homework.  Please can you get the app on your iPad or phone, or download the desktop version to your laptop or PC (it is free).

Your child will have their email address and password to log in.  Please could you help them do this and leave a comment for me so I know you have managed to access our P5 Teams page.

Their homework has been set as an assignment but I have also posted it here too in case you have trouble accessing Teams.

This is the homework schedule:

Spelling:

Spelling 1 Green and Red groups

Spelling 1 Purple Orange and Blue groups

These are your creative topic tasks for the term:

Homework should be uploaded to the class’ Microsoft Teams page.

If you have any questions please email me at

TASK 2:

We have been learning about our emotions 😀☹️😡😲and how we can deal with them.

I want you to imagine you are a massive dump truck 🚚 and your job is to collect and dump emotions 😊☹️😡😲you know how to deal with.

For example, if you are feeling confused 🤷‍♀️  and you know that asking for help is a way to deal with that you can put that emotion in the truck and dump it.

🤔➡️🚚

Use this link to help you:

Dumper Truck of Emotions Worksheet

Once you have put all of the emotions in the truck that you can.  Look at the ones you have left.  Write ✍️them down and try to think 🧠of a strategy that you could use to help you deal with that emotion☹️😡😩😲😱.  You can use the internet 📲to help if you need to.

TASK 3:

We have been learning about our mental health and having a growth mindset.

It is really important for our mental health to develop a growth mindset.  Talking 🗣to our brains 🧠and telling ourselves that we can achieve 👍things is helpful to achieving a growth mindset.  One way to do this is through affirmations.👍👍👍

Use the internet 📲to find out what an affirmation is.

Use the link below to help you create an affirmation fortune teller and use it to help develop your growth mindset.

Affirmation Fortune Teller

TASK 4:

I am so proud of how you have all dealt with having to isolate for two weeks and I am glad we will all get to be at school together again.  Have a think about your time at home and how you feel about going back to school.  Answer ✍️the questions below:

  1. What new things have you learnt?
  2. What have you missed from school the most?
  3. How have you felt learning from home?
  4. How are you feeling about going back to school?
  5. What advice would you give to other children who might have to isolate?
  6. How did you deal with boredom?

TASK 5:

I have created a wee quiz 📊to see what you have learned over the past 2 weeks.  Click the link below to complete the quiz:

Home Learning due Thursday 27th August

Hello,

I have been so impressed with all of your work.  A massive well done to every one of you who has sent me work everyday.

TASK 1:⭐️

I would like to find out if home learning is working well 👍or if there are things we could make better for you👎.  Please can you fill in this home learning survey with the adult who has helped you the most during your time at home.  This will help us make it better for any other classes that have to isolate.

TASK 2:

We are learning French 🇫🇷 emotion words.

Yesterday we learned how to say different emotions 😁☹️😡😲in French🇫🇷.  Watch 👀the video 🎥 and see if you can learn a short conversation about how you feel in French🇫🇷.

Practice 🗣asking the question and saying a reply.  Then, make a video 🎥of your conversations🗣 and send 📲them to me.  If you want to use a different feeling just use Google translate to find out what it is in French.

TASK 3:

Lots of you have been having problems logging on to Sumdog and lots of parents are asking for some maths work.  If you are unable to get on there you can use this website to get some Maths 📉worksheets.

Maths Multiplication worksheets

TASK 4:⭐️

We are learning about a growth mindset.💪🧠

A growth mindset💪🧠 is finding ways to help us grow our brains so we can achieve more things.  Having a positive 👍🧠mental attitude can help our brains grow faster and bigger.

Watch the video below and answer the following questions about growth mindset:

  1. Why is is good to make mistakes?
  2. What are neurons?
  3. What do we need to do to grow more neurons?
  4. How does the Doc solve his problems best?
  5. What different methods can help us grow our minds?

If you need help with anything just call or text me.📲

P.S. Happy birthday Tayiba🥳 I hope you have a brilliant day 🎉🎁🎈🛍

Home Learning due Wednesday 26th

Good Morning,

Thank you for all of the amazing work you are sending me.  I made a share the learning blog last night to show you some fantastic examples of work. Have a look and see what everyone has been doing.

Task 1:⭐️

We have been learning about our emotions. 😀☹️😡😲

Watch 👀 this video of me teaching you how to say 🗣 how you are feeling 😀☹️😲😡 in French🇫🇷:

You will need to do three things:

  1. Practice saying the emotions along with the video. 🗣
  2. Guess what the French emotions is and write the sentence in English next to the French. ✍️
  3. Think about how you are feeling and write it in French.🧠✍️

If the emotion you have for today is not one of the ones I have done in the video, use Google translate 📲to find out what your emotion is in French🇫🇷.

TASK 2:

Miss Brooks is looking for new member of the ECO committee.  This is a fantastic opportunity for you to play a part in the bio-diverse 🌺🌿🌳🐿🐀🦟🕷🐞🐌🐝🐦 playground we have at St Albert’s as well as do your part to save our planet 🌍.  If you want to apply for the position, fill out the form ✍️below and send it back to us.📲

Application-Form-ECO-COMMITTEE

Application-Form-ECO-COMMITTEE

I have posted two file versions, .DOC and PDF, so see which works best for you.

TASK 3:⭐️

We have been learning how to work with our local community through our Keep the Playground Pretty campaign.

Some of you suggested that we should make some posters for the outdoor classroom so I though some bunting 🚩would look great.  Use the template below to create some bunting to stop the vandals. Your bunting could say:

  • Please put litter in the bin.🚮
  • Children play here. 🚸
  • Please respect our playground.
  • Take care of nature.♻️
  • We like it clean here.🚯
  • Play here safely.👫

Success criteria:

Just make sure that your bunting has:

  • Clear and colourful words that can be read from a distance.
  • Pictures to match the words.🏞
  • Lots of colour, the whole triangle should be completely coloured in.🖍🖍

TASK 4:

We have been learning about personal hygiene.  🧻🚰🚿🛁🧼🧽🧴It is important that we wash 🧽🧼properly so our skin remains clean and free of dead skin.  Removing dead skin is called exfoliating and we can do this using body scrubs.

Follow the recipe below and create your own body scrub.

  • 1/4 cup of salt🧂
  • 1/4 cup of sugar🥣
  • 6 tablespoons of olive oil
  • Juice from a lemon or lime🍋🍈
  • 2 tablespoons of honey (optional)🍯

Mix all of these in a bowl 🥣.  Use in the shower 🚿or bath 🛁to exfoliate your skin by rubbing onto your body.  Wash it off and see if it leaves your skin feeling clean and soft. Do not use on your face❌😖!

Homemade cosmetics are great 👍because they are natural 🌿and don’t have any nasty chemicals❌🧪.  Have a look 👀at the ingredients on your shampoo🧴.  Write down ✍️any ingredients you do not know and use the internet 📲to research what they are. Write these down and send to me.

Task 5:

I have checked Sumdog and not many of you have been logging on.  Only three people have started the challenge I set and no one has finished it yet.  Please log on and start that challenge.  I will reward points to everyone who spends at least half an hour on there.

Remember to send me your work.

Mrs Pattie
