Fun Friday!

Hi Everyone

Hope everyone has had a nice week at home! Today will be nice and relaxed.

Arts and Crafts!

It would be great if everyone could use what they have at home to try and make their own paint. Miss Milne has made a video showing you how to do this. Take a look:

You can send me photos of the pictures you make with your home made paints. Send them to gw18forshawmartin@glow.sch.uk

Have a lovely weekend!

Good Morning!

Hi

I think it would be great if today everyone could practise their sounds. I would like you to try and think of a word for each sound you practise today and then draw a picture for that sound. If you really want a challenge you can try to write a sentence using the word. Remember your capital letters, full stops and finger spaces.

To help you with sounds you are struggling with you can use this YouTube channel:

https://www.youtube.com/user/breakthruchris

Remember you can use Sumdog to practise what we have been learning in maths. Sumdog now also has areas for reading and spelling which you can now use! If you have forgotten your log in send me a message and I will send it to you.

Try to do some exercise each day. That can be going for a walk or by using a YouTube video like:

Or the Joe Wicks daily workout.

The story today is by someone we know and miss lots in P1, so i hope you all enjoy it:

Thank You

Good Afternoon!

Hi Everyone
Hope you are all having a great day. Miss Bull has very kindly recorded a story for us. So thank you very much Miss Bull.
Everyone can listen to the story ‘Tilly’s At Home Holiday’ by clicking on this link.
This is also a link to our YouTube channel:
Activity:
Like in the story I think it would be great if you could all try to make your own den at home just like Tilly and her Mum. I made my den using lots of big cushions and then I got all cosy inside my den with my favourite book! Maybe you could do the same. You can take photos of your den and send them to me if you want.

Have fun building!

Just a quick message to check that you are all doing okay. It has been a very strange few days and I know it must be hard not seeing all your friends in class. Please keep doing your best to help look after your family just like you look after your friends in the classroom. I hope you are having a nice time at home with your family and having lots of fun!
If you have any work or if you have drawn any pictures you can send a photograph of this work to me at Gw18forshawmartin@glow.sch.uk
Parents if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me on the above email. I am here to do all I can to help through these very difficult times.
I have attached this lovely story that will help your children understand the current situation more.

WB 17th Feb

We have had a great week in class!

We have continued to learn our tricky words and practice writing sentences using full stops, finger spaces and capital letters. We have also been learning about little red riding hood. We have sequenced the story and created alternative endings to little red riding hood. You can ask us about our ending.

In numeracy this week we have been learning about subtraction. We have been working on the vocabulary used. Words like take away, subtract and minus.  We have also continued to focus on number formation, skip counting in 2s and number bonds.

This week we have been using the iPads to take photos of our own work and anything else we have been doing that we are proud of!

This week was our last week at gymnastics. It has been so much fun going to the palace of arts and using all the amazing equipment. We have learned so much. It has really improved our balance and strength.

Have a great weekend and see you all next week!

WB 27th Jan

Hi

This week in primary 1 we have had lots of fun. We had our first ever achievement assembly. Well done Ayman for winning the award for working really hard to try and answer lots of questions in class.

In maths we have been focusing on addition by using the part part whole method. This made it easy for us to see that if we split a whole number into parts the total number is still the same when we put it back together again. We have also been learning about 3D objects. We have started to learn about what is the same and different between 2D shapes and 3D objects. We got to make a shape monster with things we could find in the classroom and we tried to make 3D objects with spaghetti and play doh.

In literacy this week we have continued to focus on learning our sounds. We have learnt ue, er and ar this week. You can ask us at home some words that have these sounds in them. We have also spent a lot of time practicing our independent writing. We have tried to sound out words and also write in sentences. Remembering our capital letters, full stops and finger spaces.

For our traditional tales topic we were discussing how different evidence can help us learn about the past. We found a suitcase in our classroom that was filled with different object and we were able to work out that the things belonged to Cinderella or Cinduri. Ask us at home how we knew this. Today we made a big Cinderella collage using different materials. It was so fun using all the different materials to make our picture.

Have a great weekend everyone!

See you next week!

WB 20/01

Hi everyone

We had such a busy week in P1 this week. We have been practicing our song  ‘3 Craws’ for the Robert Burns assembly. We had a very exciting visit from CBeebies for the show ‘Swashbuckle’. We even got to go the Glasgow Palace of Arts to do gymnastics. We have been having so much fun this with all these new things that Mr Forshaw forgot to take lots of photos of all the hard work we have been doing as well.

We have still been learning our sounds. This week we have learnt the oi, qu and ou sounds. We had a go at independently sounding out and writing some of the words we know that have these sounds in them. It was quite tricky but we did great!

It has also been a very busy week in numeracy. We have been learning all about addition. We have used lots of different materials to help us with this. We also continued to work on symmetry this week. We drew lines of symmetry on to shapes and tried to spot where the line of symmetry would be on different pictures and flags.

This is some of the photos from this weeks fun activities.

This is the Swashbuckle photos!

Thank you!
See you next week!

Primary 1a

Hi everyone!

Another great week in primary 1. In numeracy, we have started to learn about odd and even numbers and about sharing amounts. You can ask how we know if a number is odd or even. Also, we have continued to learn about symmetry. We have been making symmetrical pictures.

We have continued with our sounds this week and have been learning the ‘ch’ and ‘sh’ sound. You can help us find things in the house that have these sounds. We have also been practising sounding out and writing words.

We have started to learn about traditional tales. This week we have been looking at the story of Cinderella and Cinduri. We have been talking about what is the same between the two stories and also how people should be treated. As part of our traditional tales topic we also got to build castles in the classroom.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. See you next week!

First Week Back!

Hi

Hope everyone had a lovely holiday! It’s great to be back. We have been straight back in to a very busy week in P1

In literacy, we have continued to learn our new sounds. You can practice these at home with us. We have also been learning how to write instructions. To do this we made a jam sandwich, then we used the knowledge of how we did it to write our instructions.

In numeracy, we have continued to focus on teen numbers. We have been using numicon to build different teen numbers. We have also started to look at lines of symmetry in simple shapes. This is something we will continue to do.

Yesterday, Baldy Bane theatre company came in to the school to perform for us. It was lots of fun! Here are some of the other photos from the week. We have been building a lot with the bricks.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. See you next week!
