Tuesday 31st March

Good morning everyone, hope you all got a good sleep last night. I hope you enjoyed yesterday’s weekend news post and seeing what you’d all been up to over the weekend.

Day 7 of no school so see below for a ‘could do’ list for today. We want you and your families to look after each other and think about staying safe first so don’t worry if you can’t do all of this today!

9am

Gym lesson online with Joe Wicks LIVE https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAxW1XT0iEJo0TYlRfn6rYQ

9:30-10:00: Literacy

Jolly Phonics- Practise your jolly phonics sounds with the video and do the actions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzBoqtayewI

Using one of your jotters, practise writing the letters. You can draw the picture from the song too!

Can you write any words?

Remember to ask an adult to dot your sounds to help with the letter formation!

10:30-11:15: Break Time

It’s important that you have breaks and fresh air if you can. Social distancing means you can’t go and play with other people that you don’t live with but you can go outside with your family for a walk, a run in the park or a cycle ride. Don’t stay inside all day.

Have a healthy snack – a piece of fruit or some raisins?

11:15-12:15: Maths

The best way for you to keep practising the right maths for you is through SumDog: https://www.sumdog.com/user/sign_in?to=%2Femails

Your log in is in your home learning pack. Please spend today getting online on SumDog and looking at all the lessons you can do there.

If you’ve had enough of sum dog for just now here’s some fun addition colouring sheets and/or colouring by number depending on how you feel today.

colour by numberclick on link to download sheet.

12:15-1pm: Lunch

Have a healthy lunch and go outside again if you can! If not, maybe put on some music and have a lunchtime disco in the house to get your body moving again!

1-2.30 pm: Health and Wellbeing

Join our very own Mr Corrigan in an online guided meditation. Find a comfortable spot and relax.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fnmwN6dtdrw&feature=share

During a time like this it’s important we share what’s on our mind with our friends and families. This is so we can tell people how we’re feeling so they can help look after us.

Have a think about how you are feeling, is there anything that is making you feel sad or worried? Use the worksheet below as a prompt to help your conversations at home with your families. You could write words or draw pictures to show how you feel.

main worries worksheet – click on link to download worksheet.

Mum’s and Dad’s this is quite an abstract concept… make it easier by saying ‘you are happy when…. And you are sad when….’ Allowing your child to finish the sentence. This will allow your child to become more familiar with talking about their feelings.

2-2:30pm: Break Time

Go outside again if you can or have another disco…or you could do another Cosmickids yoga session in your living room? Keep your body moving!

2:30-3pm: Story and chat

At the end of each day, we will send you stories to listen to/read. Some of these will be read by your lovely St. Albert’s teachers, others might be by famous authors. To get ready for the story:

  • Get a snack and a drink
  • Get somewhere comfy – on cushions/sofa/bed, under a blanket
  • Get one of your parents or a brother/sister to listen with you

Here are today’s stories:

Weekend News

In class 1 we print off the pictures from our weekend and share them with our friends.

Then we tell an adult what we’d like to write to accompany the picture, this can be single words or sentences depending on each individual.

Could you do this in one of your jotters? If you don’t have a printer you could draw a picture of something you did instead. Remember it will really help some of us if you dot our words for us to trace like below…

Please remember to send your photos to me so I can share with everyone later today, here on the blog.

10.00-10.30: If you have time you could also check out Newsround to learn more about what is going on in the world around us.

It won’t be quite the same but I have found a video of a song for you to watch and sing at home that is one of our class favourites. Perhaps you could teach someone at home…

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6PKcnTGVX4

Then there’s another of our favourite songs, ‘The Birdie Song’ remember this is a tricky tongue twister so do your best…

Next is a compilation of music lessons taught in a fun way, the video is quite long so you might want to split it up into shorter sections but the content is good fun!

1-2.30 pm: Health & Wellbeing

I have two tasks for you this afternoon.

No 1. The first is to complete this mindful meditation. In class one, one of my favourite things is to read guided meditations to the children, here is a video link to one that will hopefully do the same job.

Sit quietly, listen and breathe.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bk_qU7l-fcU

No 2. Self-love and appreciation is extremely important especially at a time like this. Think about who you are. What makes you special. Complete either the balloon worksheet filling out the sentences outlining what your unique personality traits are. Or draw a picture of yourself and talk to someone at home about what makes you special and unique.

Click on the link below to download the worksheets.

I am an amazing person.

Who I am self portrait.

If you don’t have a printer to print the worksheet you choose to do you can draw a  self-portrait of yourself in your jotter and make notes about what makes you special in there.

Go outside again if you can or have another disco…or you could do another Cosmickids yoga session in your living room? Keep your body moving!

Writing- Draw a character from one of your favourite books from home in your jotter. You can even use the pictures in the book to help you picture what it looks like.

If you can, surround your drawing with some adjectives (describing words) to describe your character. Here’s one of my favourites!

Stick man is brown, brave, fast, lonely, thin and stuck!

10:30-11:15: Break Time

2:30-3pm: Story and chat

At the end of each day, we will send you stories to listen to/read. Some of these will be read by your lovely St. Albert’s teachers, others might be by famous authors. To get ready for the story:

  • Get a snack and a drink
  • Get somewhere comfy – on cushions/sofa/bed, under a blanket
  • Get one of your parents or a brother/sister to listen with you

Here are today’s stories:

P1-3 – The Scarecrow’s Wedding, read by Miss Kinloch : https://youtu.be/1V7Xs4H68GA P4-6 – George’s Marvellous Medicine Ch. 1, read by Mrs Pattie (P7 are just finishing a book but next week, we’ll start a harder one for P6 and P7) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W95rs_S3QXQ
