Thursday 30th April 2020

It’s the last day of April, although we’ve been in lockdown I can’t quite believe how quickly the month has gone. As a school our focus this week, introduced at Monday’s assembly is caring for our own and others mental health.

Some days are tougher than others so here is a video the staff have worked on with some words of advice for when you have a harder day.

1-1.30 pm: Fine Motor Skills

One of the really important aspects of our daily school life is play. These play based experiences help us make sense of the world around us and also assist in our development of fine and gross motor skills which impacts on our cognitive activity and even our pencil grip etc.

I have attached a suggested activity you could try at home to help develop these skills.

1.30-2.30pm: Rainbow Challenge

Mrs Dunnett has kindly made up a rainbow hunt challenge for you which you can complete in your own home. If you have siblings or Mum’s and Dad’s you could even turn this into a competition and see who finds the most objects with the different colours.

You can download the pdf file here if you would like to print.

Rainbow Hunt Challenge

Search for objects with each colour and list them. You could also warm up for the activity by singing the Rainbow song!

2-2:30pm: Break Time

2:30-3pm: Story and chat

At the end of each day, we will send you stories to listen to/read. Some of these will be read by your lovely St. Albert’s teachers, others might be by famous authors. To get ready for the story:

  • Get a snack and a drink
  • Get somewhere comfy – on cushions/sofa/bed, under a blanket
  • Get one of your parents or a brother/sister to listen with you

Here are today’s stories:

P1-3 Today we have Miss Graham reading Zog. She has been wonderful at providing us with these lovely story book videos. Thank you Miss Graham.
