Happy Friday!

Whenever I need a reason to smile I can spend time going through our old blog posts and look through our memories. Today I’m going to share one of my favourites, our Barrowland Ballet dancing performance.

Enjoy watching, smile and look forward to the next time we’ll be doing something like this.

One more thing to share with you regarding our focus on mental health this week. Miss Cohen has kindly made this Infographic for us to share as a way of reminding us how to keep ourselves right. Feel free to save and share with others.

Gym lesson online with Joe Wicks LIVE https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAxW1XT0iEJo0TYlRfn6rYQ

9:30-10:00: Literacy

Before we finished up the class had been working hard on learning about and designing their own characters. We usually used fairytale or Disney characters to do this as they were the most familiar/well known.

Have a watch of this you tube version of Jack and the Beanstalk.

Now you can complete a drawing and description of the Giant in the story. You can draw a picture and complete this verbally by telling someone at home what they look like or write a more detailed description including personality traits. Ask an adult at home to help you choose the right worksheet for you.

To keep it light and fun since it’s Friday here’s some ‘Colour by Number’ worksheets with added challenge of different types of sums. As always ask an adult at home to help you with selecting the right one for you.

If you’d like to do this virtually on the computer or tablet here’s a good link…

12:15-1pm: Lunch

1-1.30 pm: Fine Motor Skills

One of the really important aspects of our daily school life is play. These play based experiences help us make sense of the world around us and also assist in our development of fine and gross motor skills which impacts on our cognitive activity and even our pencil grip etc.

I have attached a suggested activity you could try at home to help develop these skills.

1.30-2.30pm: Art

Mr Corrigan for sure has a career in Children’s Television if he ever decides teaching isn’t for him! Thank you as always for sharing these videos with us.

Have a look at this video of him talking about and sharing information on the very seasonal cherry blossom trees.

Now follow along and see if you could complete some similar art at home. Beautiful work Mr C!

2:30-3pm: Story and chat

At the end of each day, we will send you stories to listen to/read. Some of these will be read by your lovely St. Albert’s teachers, others might be by famous authors. To get ready for the story:

  • Get a snack and a drink
  • Get somewhere comfy – on cushions/sofa/bed, under a blanket
  • Get one of your parents or a brother/sister to listen with you

Here are today’s stories:

After all that art work keeping with the creative theme Miss Bull has recorded herself reading The Magic Paintbrush… what a fab book choice.
