Welcome

WELCOME TO WOODLAND’S FAMILY NURTURE CENTRE

A warm welcome is extended to you by everyone at Woodlands Nursery.

For many of you, starting nursery will be the beginning of a long journey through the education process with your child.

Our nursery team firmly believes in building a positive partnership with our families. We aim for all children to be happy, confident individuals who are able to work with each other and who go on to develop a love for learning. At Woodlands we aim to provide a secure happy stimulating environment for children to learn from. We want them to have fun and will support them as they need it. We will encourage them to become independent and know how to care for themselves as much as they can. We complement our work with children by supporting families and offering parent groups.

Yours sincerely

Sandie Johnston

Head of Centre

At Woodlands Children and Families Come First!

Before your child starts

Please bring your child on his/her visit and talk about what they may expect. It helps if your child’s name is on shoes and clothing to ensure they do not get lost.

Keyworkers

All children have key workers who try to get to know you and your child. Please feel free to approach the keyworker about anything you are unsure about.

What do children do at nursery?

  • Children learn through play
  • Learn how to play with other children
  • Learn how to listen and communicate with other adults
  • We follow the Early Level Curriculum for Excellence. This is the curriculum followed by children in Scottish Schools throughout their time in school.
  • We have a folder in the parents’ area telling you more about how their nursery experiences fit into the curriculum.
