Transition to Nursery

We all know the familiar feelings when facing change. Excitement and curiosity may well be mixed  with feelings of anxiety and uncertainty as we are faced with unfamiliar experiences, people and places.

At Treetop Family Nurture Centre  we want the transition to be a positive experience and we strive for it to be  as  seamless and natural  as possible for all children and families.

What to expect from a  transition to  Treetop Family Nurture Centre

  • Contact prior to child starting  –  an opportunity for Parent/Carer to share information about the child and also ask questions about the nursery life. Currently this will be a welcome phone call.
  • Digital communication with information about staff and nursery life.
  • Nursery settling visits with the parent/carer.  This is flexible and more can be added to meet each child’s individual need. We currently offer 3 stay and play sessions plus an information talk. More visits can be arranged if you feel that your child will need them to help them transition well.
  • When a child starts nursery they can stay for shorter periods of time, building up to full sessions in discussion with families.
  • When a child starts nursery they will be assigned a keyworker from the staff team that will be the main point of contact for the family.
  • Your keyworker will contact you again, for a “settling in” chat, once your child has been attending for a number of weeks.

The information contained in this booklet refers to the current school year and is accurate at the time of publication.
We hope this information will be helpful to you and will answer many of your questions about the nursery. Should you have any further enquiries, please do not hesitate to contact us where we shall be pleased to help you.
