Parent Council

The Strathkinness Primary School Parent Council.Any parent/carer with a child in the school automatically become part of the parent council.
The main role of the Parent Council is to represent the views of parents and carers, to offer support to the staff and to assist with fundraising to improve the school experience for all. At the beginning of each academic year an Annual General Meeting is held during which office bearing positions are voted on and parents appointed.
The 2023 Office Bearers are:
Isabelle Kopack (Chair)
Kevin Amy (Treasurer)
Sara Scott (Secretary)  We are a friendly group and we have raised lots of money which has recently been used to support some playground improvements, annual pantomime outing for all students as well as to provide leavers gifts and various items to support the school.
We raise funds through hosting events (usually one per school term) such as family movie nights, Christmas hampers and our biggest fundraiser is our an annual summer fete held in the summer term.
Parent Council meetings are held once each term and they are an opportunity to hear from the Head teacher about what is happening at school and to ask questions. The agenda is set in advance and anyone is able to suggest an agenda item for the meeting. It is a great way to get involved and hear what is happening at school and I would encourage you to attend these meetings when you can. Due to current COVID restrictions we hold them virtually. The Parent Council communicate information to parents via the school (who either email this out or send it from the school app).
We also have an informal Facebook group, a parents WhatsApp group and WhatsApp groups for each class within the school. We use all these  more generally to communicate as a parent/carer community. If you have a child at the school and would like to join these you can request via the link below (facebook group) or by contacting the committee. at:  strath.pta@gmail.com (various WhatsApp groups).
