First Aid/Medication

First Aid

At Strathkinness Primary School we take our duty of care for our pupils very seriously. If your child is hurt or ill at school we will administer the necessary first aid and care and we will contact you to let you know.

If the injury or illness needs action by you or medical attention, we will call all the numbers we have on file for your child until we can arrange for you or a designated emergency contact to come and collect them. In the unlikely event of a major incident, we would seek medical advice as well as calling you. We do ask that a parent or emergency contact is available at all times during the school day so that we can contact you in the event of an incident and ensure your wishes are followed. Please keep your contact details up to date for this reason

If the injury is minor and your child can continue at school we will still let you know that the injury has happened. If your child has bumped their head you will receive a phone call and your child will be sent home with a letter in their bag.

MEDICATION

If your child needs to take medication while at school, please contact the school office and ask to speak to Mrs Hedderman in the first instance.

If your child requires regular prescription medication such as inhalers, EpiPen, antihistamines etc we can help you complete the necessary forms and prepare an action plan for your child.

Occasionally your child may need over the counter medication or treatments such as antibiotics.  You can print and hand in this form with your medication to the office.  Paper copies of the form are available in the office.
