P3/4

Dec 25
This term in P3/4 we have continued to enjoy our class novel The Last Bear. We have loved exploring the story through our topic work, where we have been learning about different biomes around the world. We looked closely at the animals, plants an climate within each biome and discussed how living things adapt to survive in their environments. We even seen some of these animals on our class trip to Edinburgh Zoo!
In writing, we have been developing our descriptive writing skills. Using our topic as inspiration, we ‘stepped into’ the different biomes and used our senses to help describe the setting in detail.
In maths, we have been working on a range of strategies for addition and subtraction, helping us become more confident and flexible with number work.
In PE, we have been focusing on gymnastics, learning new movements, balances, and routines.
We have had a fantastic term full of creativity, discovery, and active learning!

Within Primary 3/4 we have had a wonderful first term of school together! The children have done a fantastic job settling into our classroom routines, making new friends, and showing curiosity in their learning.
We have been learning about, new spelling sounds and patterns in literacy. Along with adjective and verbs making our writing even more brilliant. Within numeracy we have been exploring place value, rounding, shape, symmetry using natural materials and so much more!
We have been looking at the Scottish Artist, Charles Rennie Macintosh. We have been exploring bold shapes, straight lines and bright colours, taking inspiration from his famous Glasgow Rose and stained-glass windows to create our own.
We are excited to start our new class topic about the different climes in the world and climate change, linking to our class novel ‘The Last Bear’.
Here is just a little snippet of what we have been getting up to!
