School Events

Here at St Joseph’s we are always very busy planning our next event. Here are some recent events that we have had.

Travelling By Tuba – Around the World in 60 Minutes
We were lucky enough to be visited by Chris and Stewart who developed Travelling by Tuba. Here is an brief description of the show.
Framed within a journey around the world, our show begins with a traditional Hungarian Dance. We then visit the Egyptians and their Ocarinas, the Chinese Priests and their Dragon Headed Trumpets. March with us down the Appian Way accompanied by the sound of the Roman Cornu. Watch out for its blaring Turkish counterpart, the Schnib. A quick stopover in the Swiss Alps reveals the first mobile phone, a 1000 year old 3.6 metre Alpine Horn. Imagine the Tuba as the STAR of the Spanish opera Carmen, meet the characters and see the action in four and a half minutes. Discover our newest addition, courtesy of Wessex Tuba, the smallest Tuba in the World. With music from every continent, a real Global Extravaganza!
Thank you YMI (Youth Music Initiative) for organising this amazing event, our pupils enjoyed it so much!
Allotments
Our P5 children enjoyed their first visit to the Kelty Allotments with the Kelty Greening Group.  They helped them secure the new trees to the sticks to keep them strong and safe. They will visit in small groups throughout the year to help with projects in the wildlife garden.

VJ Day Memorial

A group of pupils from Primary 7 attended an event at Cowdenbeath Cemetery as part of the Rotary Club and British Legion project to commemorate VJ Day.  The children visited a number of war graves where they learned about the people who had bravely given their lives and planted a poppy.

Our Cinema group!

Join us on Monday 16th June at the Kelty Club for a family movie night to watch…. The Minecraft Movie.

About us –
We are a group of 8 P6 and P7 children working hard to make this family night happen. We are hosting this Family Cinema Night to fundraise money for the school.

There will be a big selection of snacks and drinks and people with allergies can tell us and we will show you the snacks/drinks you can eat.

We all hope you can make it for some popcorn and a Minecraft Movie!

Every January for Burns Day we host a Scottish Ceilidh. Our children prepare a Scottish dance and either a song or a poem to perform for their parents and carers. At the end we get everyone up for a wee jig! Here are some photos of our Scottish Ceilidh.
