Early Experiences
Early interactions shape the way we relate to others & see the wider world. This image illustrates how positive & negative relationships have made a physiological impact on the individuals. You can clearly see that the healthy child’s brain is fully stimulated & developing well. However, the brain of the neglected child is very inactive & not developing fully. This will have huge implications for their view of the world & associated behaviours.

On the other hand, this image illustrates how an insecure attachment cycle develops:
Children who are raised in a positive, healthy environment where their needs are met & adults are a supportive role model, will develop secure attachments to their caregivers & others around them. Where are those whose needs are not met form insecure attachment relationships to others. This image describes some of the behaviour we might see where this has been the case.
