Babies are born ready to connect with an adult caregiver and the success of this first relationship impacts on the child and their behaviours. Early experiences shape our internal working model of the world as follows:

For children and young people who do not have a ‘significant adult/caregiver’ at home, a member of school staff may be the secure base for that child.

The guidance & resources within this site will enable practitioners to better understand the importance of positive relationships as well as how to manage & maintain those essential connections with others.
