Professional Values
Teaching is a moral project which is deeply implicated with ethical concerns and considerations.
Health and Wellbeing is the responsibility of all practitioners.
Authenticity and bringing your whole self to work can create success and fulfilment and have the greatest impact on the children we work with.
Whether we are registered with the GTC or SSSC, both bodies require us to regularly reflect on our professional values.

Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs
Maslow believed that human behaviour could be best understood by recognising that we’re all constantly trying to satisfy a number of needs, starting with physiological needs, safety, love & belonging, esteem and finally self-actualisation (where learning takes place).
As school staff we’re faced every day with a group of people whose needs are different and who are at different stages of having those needs met.
According to Maslow, before a learner can hope to tackle demanding cognitive processes, such as developing a new skill or acquiring new knowledge, they must first fulfil their basic needs – rest, hunger, thirst, security and safety.
