Solihull

All staff in the nursery are trained to use a strategy to support        children exhibiting distressed or challenging behaviour called ‘The Solihull Approach’.
This strategy is based on a sound theoretical structure and evidence base and has been in use for nearly twenty years in some areas.  It allows us to help children process their emotions and anxieties when they become overwhelming for them, in a safe and nurturing way.
We want children to have a good emotional start in life and this strategy ensures that we offer a consistent, effective approach. Within it we explore aspects of ‘containment’, ‘reciprocity’ and        ‘behaviour management’.
Training to use this approach is available to parents and carers. If you would like to know more, please speak to a member of the      nursery team.
