This week we have exploring some of the features of the apps on our Ipads to help develop our learning. We have used Canva to create maths games linked to our class novel The Wrong Shoes. We also explored the green screen feature on Imovies and showcased our Science learning about the food journey of bananas, coffee etc by creating our own movies. In ICT we also learned about the benefits of AI and coded our own game.

In Literacy we started planning for writing our own autobiographies which we will be writing over the next few weeks. We also listened to a bit more of Romeo and Juliet and compared it to the movie.

In French we were listening to Little Red Riding Hood and trying to match vocabulary that we already knew.

In Science we created our own raps to explain the life cycle of a plant.

In Numeracy we were working on a times table challenge by trying out different methods to help us to remember the stations of all of the tables.

In PE we continued developing our stamina with cross country running.

We enjoyed a walk with our buddies yesterday to Forgan Arts Centre to explore their grounds and find clues.

This week we have been discussing and celebrating our success with GLEE. We loved representing the school and performing to the best of our ability. We used a video clip of one of our performances to write a review of it from the point of view of the audience. We discussed technique, structure, lighting, costume and special effects. Our reviews were all very positive.

In Numeracy this week we have been working on top heavy fractions and problem solving.

In Science we have been researching how plants benefit society and where they provide habitats for land and sea animals.

We have also been working in small committees to plan our P7 end of term celebrations.

Maths

Pentagons have been working hard on their algebra, and triangles and squares have been great at doing long multiplication. An example of what triangles and squares have been doing is 8000 x 119 and pentagons is 5(x-1)+ 4 + 3 =79 .

Writing

In writing we all wrote a formal letter about the Importance of food banks and how we should have one in our community.

Drama

We have started reading Romeo and Juliet and in groups we came up with an acting piece for one of the scenes in the book

Glee

Since we’ve gotten to the regional finals we have been practicing nonstop every week. The dances are looking strong and we’re excited to see all of the parents next week in Dunfermline.

To finish this up, we have been organising our end of term show. We have also been making our year book and our memory jars.

On Monday, we started off with triangles and squares correcting their RRR (revisit, review, revise) in maths and the pentagons doing a rigour maths worksheet. We then started to read our new class novel, The Wrong Shoes. On Tuesday we started off with writing a piece on The Wrong Shoes, basically a summary of what we had learnt so far. We also practised our new dance for glee to the song “I lived. Wednesday was the day of Kit Car and Rotary Quiz. At Kit Car, we won the award for the greenest car, meaning we used the most recycled resources used to design our car, and Rotary Quiz we don’t know what we placed but we think we did pretty good. We also started our research onto Food Banks, and made a Freeform about our new book, The Wrong Shoes and  practised our singing for glee. On Thursday we were mostly finishing off work we hadn’t finished over the week. Same with Friday, but on Friday we did outdoor learning with our buddies and worked on a new scientific news free form.  Written by Faron

We have had a busy week this week. We have been working on the kit car portfolio and design of the car. We have also been practising our new song and dance for GLEE. We have also been working with our buddies to design Easter bonnets for our Easter service.

On Tuesday we had our first transition visit to Madras and took part in rugby, Scottish Country Dancing and a STEM activity.

In Maths we have been working on Algebra and Percentages. In French we have been learning the alphabet, comparing France to Scotland and learning about masculine and feminine words.

Primary 7

Maths: In maths this week we did RRR which was about percentage decimals

and fractions we also did a maths assessment for Madras. People also came in

on Monday from other school to do private talks.

Art: This week we have been doing a lot of stuff about the kit car from making

it to producing designs. When everyone had made their idea for the kit car,

they would introduce it and tell what it is about then after that we would vote.

Morag’s and Murryn’s kit car design won so those are going to be our designs.

PE: This week we started our new dance for Glee, and the song is called I lived

by one republic. We already know about a half of the dance with the girls help.

We have also been practicing our spring service which we will be doing with

our buddies.

Trial: Next week someone from the court will be coming

and showing us what happens at court during a trial. We will be acting out

parts from trial like sheriff, witnesses, prosecutors and more.

Newport got talent: For a few weeks now, the whole school has been doing

different skills and preforming them to judges who rated them, after that the

judges would pick 17 people from all classes and they would be in the final

preforming to the entire school.

Novel: This week we finally finished our novel Skilleg and after finishing it we

had to do a test about what happened in the book. After that we learnt about

the next book we were reading which is going to be the wrong shoe and every

P7 that is going to madras is going to be reading this.

This week we have been perfecting our singing and dancing for GLEE. We have decided that we can use our residential trip next week to practise our singing out in the open air!

In Numeracy this week we have been working on fractions, decimals and percentages. In Literacy we developed our summary writing skills. We also presented our Winter Olympic Group tasks to the rest of the class. We had all worked on a joint presentation using Freeform and some of us had been very creative with our use of IT.

We got together with our Dalguise activity groups and started planning rules etc for our group. We are very excited about next week.

For our topic we learned about the Battle of Loudoun Hill and then used this knowledge to create a story on Book Creator.

Primary 7

We have had a busy week. Everyone shared their Masterclass with the rest of the class and we had lots of variation in what we were doing. Lots of art, craft, quizzes and games – it was great fun and gave us all some responsibility over our learning this week.

We also led the Church Christmas Service on Thursday. We had lots of positive feedback about our readings and the clear voices that we had.

We are all looking forward to our Christmas break and would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas from Primary 7!
