We have had a busy week of learning in P5. Here is a flavour…
  • In Writing we have been learning how to write a summary.
  • We have written scripts for our shadow Puppet Show.  Our scripts are based on well known books.
  • In Maths we have been changing percentages into fractions.
  • In Science we have been learning about shadows and opaque, translucent and transparent objects.
  • In Art we created clay Easter egg decorations and painted them for our Easter tree.
  • We had our last Pupil Committee meeting today and we have really enjoyed them.
  • In Dance we have learned a line dance to Cotton Eyed Joe.
  • In PE we were learning to build our stamina and to keep pace when running.
  • In school we had an Earth Hour which means that we turned off electrical appliances in our class for one hour.
  • We have all been working on something for the Spring Together Time.  It is called ‘Our Wonderful World’.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Friday 15th March 2024

Our Pupil Committees continued this week across the school. This is an opportunity for us to work with children and staff from different classes and to make a difference to our school. Here is a flavour of our learning…
Enterprise Committee:  We have been planning for our Red Nose Day Fundraiser which took place today.  We raised £147.35 so thank you to everyone who contributed.  We also held a competition for the whole school.  We made 316 red noses and hid them outside. We also made a golden nose which had a special prize attached to it.  We have been learning to plan, meet a deadline, be organised and work together.  We are glad everyone had fun!
Eco Committee:  We have been organising a litter pick as part of The Big Spring Clean Up. Each class will spend time outside next week to keep our environment tidy.  Today we worked in groups to make an I Movie about Eco Tips. Each group included a minimum of 5 tips. Some tips included making sure the tap was switched off, turning off the lights if you are not in a room, reusing and recycling paper and turning off devices when they are not being used. We have been learning to use technology to create our movie, work together and use persuasive language to encourage one another.
Health and Wellbeing:  We have been finding out about the rules for different sports including tennis, basketball, chaos tig and rugby.  We have practised these games and next term we will run different clubs for children at lunchtime. We have created posters to advertise these clubs.  We have been learning to make decisions, be fair and work together.
Junior Road Safety Officers: We have made a video to promote road safety. We sent the link out and we hope you enjoyed watching it.  It is also available on our website.  We have also been creating banners and writing letters about road safety. We are continuing to encourage everyone to take part in the Big Walk and Wheel next week and we are working towards our Silver Fresh Air Frankie Award.  We have been learning to communicate,  write letters and to be creative.
Rights Respecting School:  We have been learning about cultures and discrimination. We know that it is ok to have similarities and differences from our friends and we should celebrate these.  We have been learning to say hello in different languages and have created a display for the foyer.  We have been learning to work together, include everyone and to have fun!
We hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

Friday 15th December

We’ve had another busy week in P5!

We really enjoyed our class party on Wednesday and it really got us into the festive spirit.  We also enjoyed the Church service on Thursday.

On Festive Friday (15th) we spent time with P4 playing with our loose parts.  Our challenge was to create something linked with the theme of ‘Christmas’. We created cosy houses, Santa’s sleigh, Christmas trees and Santa’s workshop!

We also designed and created decorations and cards which will be ready to bring home on Wednesday.

At the beginning of the week we were learning about reflection and shadow.

In ICT we used Publisher to tessellate Christmas tree shapes.  We think these look really impressive.

We also used our knowledge of grid references to create  Christmas themed pictures in Excel.

We hope you have a lovely weekend.
