This week we have been learning more about Charles Rennie Mackintosh and his life. We took notes during a presentation and then used these to complete a fact file. Did you know he had the same birthday as Hamish?! He also has his face on a £100 note!

In Art, we turned Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s ‘Glasgow roses’ into our own spring themed designs. We thought about spring colours and symbols of spring that we could use to fill the spaces.

We had group discussions about whether school should be 4 days a week instead of 5. Children shared their ideas in groups and then recorded them in a plan. Then they used their notes to write a balanced argument using openers, connectives and describing words. We worked hard this week on adding extra detail.

In Numeracy, we have been continuing our division work, this week thinking about division as counting up the equal groups. We have been practising using strategies that work best for us when dividing by 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10.

In Health and Wellbeing, we designed a healthy, well-balanced meal making sure we had food from each of the food groups in the right amounts. Children got to write an invitation to someone that they wanted to come and eat their meal!

In PE, we practised our throwing and catching with a rugby ball. We also played a game where we had to try and catch a band from the back of children’s waist bands and take them to our team’s base. Children could them come and steal them back. We also loved playing with the P1/2s at Loose Parts and had time to create our own play.

This week, we have had committees every afternoon so children have been learning and completing tasks in their different committee groups.
