Happy Friday!

We loved presenting our assembly ‘People who help us’. We received some lovely feedback – Thank you 😄

PE- We have been continuing try our different athletics stations. We also enjoyed taking part in in the mile.
Numeracy- We continued our numbers to 20/100 learning. We also did a little money work.

Literacy – We all enjoyed our reading books this week. Our new final consonant blend was ck.

Outdoor learning- We went on a walk ( journey ) to the woods. We loved walking with our P7 Buddies and having time to explore there. We also loved making pancakes with Tony Crelland. All these activities are part of our Natural Connections Programme.

Happy Friday !

We have had another hard working week in Primary 1.

Outdoor learning – We enjoyed time exploring the large loose parts.

PE – We enjoyed trying out different athletics stations. We also enjoyed taking part in the mile.

Numeracy/Maths – We have been continuing with our numbers to 20/100 learning. We have also been working on our money learning. We enjoyed some time on sum dog.
Literacy- We enjoyed our reading books this week. Our spelling words ended in all and ell. Our handwriting letter was Gg. our piece of writing was about Police officers.

Art- We drew our own police cars using a step by step video. They look cool!

Topic- We have been practising for our assembly on Monday.

A short but busy week in Primary 1.

We have been practising for our special assembly about ‘People who help us’.

Art- We printed firefighters. They look great !

Literacy-Our final consonant blend was ft. Our special handwriting letter was Ff. We all enjoyed our reading books this week.  We loved sharing a book with our P7 Buddies. Our piece of writing was about our school lollipop man.

Maths/ Numeracy- We have been working on our numbers to 20/100 learning. We also did some weight and capacity learning.

We enjoyed taking part in the mile.

Outdoor learning- We explored with the large loose parts.  We also did some planting with our P7 Buddies.

Today is Miss Appleby’s last day in our class. We will miss her.

We have had a great week in Primary 1.

Music/ Science – We got to experiment with different instruments. We discussed what they were made of and what we had to do to make them play.
Literacy – We all enjoyed our reading books this week. Our new final consonant blends were ng and nk. Our piece of writing was about Firefighters. We were practising the letter Ee during handwriting time.
Maths/ Numeracy – We have been continuing with our numbers to 20/100 and measure learning . We made wiggly worms and put them in order from the shortest to the longest.
PE- We all enjoyed running the mile. We also enjoyed trying out different athletics stations.
Outdoor Learning- Our Buddies helped us measure different objects in the playground using natural materials.

Health-We were discussing different brain breaks we could have.

Happy Friday!

We had a fun and hard working first week back.

Art- We drew beautiful flowers that we may find in our gardens. This is a job for a competition hosted by ‘Newport in Bloom’.

Numeracy/Maths- We have been working hard on our numbers to 20 learning. We have also been using lots of non standard units to measure different objects in our classroom.

Literacy- We all enjoyed our new reading books this week. Our new final consonant blends were – lt and ld. We also were practising our letter formations. Our writing was a poster about different weathers.

PE-We were taking part in different athletic stations- discus, shot putt, javelin and hurdles. We enjoyed running the mile.

Outdoor Learning- We enjoyed some time exploring the bottom garden. As part of Earth Day we weeded some of the school garden and did a litter pick.

French- We were learning the weather in French. This was lots of fun.

Topic- We were learning about different clouds. We made a cloud view finder. This was lots of fun using it to identify clouds.

Happy Thursday and Happy holidays !

PE- We loved using lots of apparatus during our gymnastics time. We practised our jumping, rolling and balancing. We also love taking part in the whole school mile.

Art- We made easter baskets and decorations.
Music- We have been practising our Easter songs and a very special one with our P7 Buddies.

Literacy- We love writing silly sentences. We also did a piece of writing about a missing rabbit.
Numeracy / Maths- We were working on our numbers to 20 learning. We also did some time learning – one hour more and less.

We enjoyed our Spring together time.

Happy Friday from Primary 1!

PE-We enjoyed our gymnastics activities. Our new learning was shoulder stands.
We also enjoyed taking part in the daily mile.

We all enjoyed taking part in our pupil committees. We all had fun activities to do.

Numeracy/Maths- We were working on our numbers to 20 learning. We also were learning about telling the time half past on a digital clock.

Literacy- We made lovely thank you cards for all the staff at Falkland Palace. Our final consonant blends were nt and nd. We all enjoyed our reading books this week.

Health- We have been discussing how to cross the road safely.
Art- We made Easter cards.
Science- We were leaning about the life cycle of plants. We planted sunflowers seeds to look after.

We have had a very but week in P1.

Literacy – our new initial consonant blends this week were sk, sn and sm. Our writing job this week was to write a Spring poem. We all enjoyed our reading books this week. We have been working hard on our key words.
Numeracy/Maths- We have been working on our numbers to 20 learning. We have also been learning to tell the time half past on analogue displays. We enjoyed some time on Sum dog.

Art- We printed beautiful Spring tulips using a fork.
PE-We enjoyed our gymnastics stations and taking part in the mile.
Outdoor learning- We loved exploring with the large loose parts.

We also loved designing our Easter bonnets with our P7 Buddies.

We loved the Newports Got Talent show on Friday afternoon.

Happy Friday!

We loved our visit to Falkland Palace. We got to dress up, meet Mary Queen of Scots, make bread, explore the place and gardens and play tennis. Our trip was lots of fun.

PE-We loved our gymnastics activities. We were jumping, balancing, rolling and doing bunny hops. We enjoyed taking part in the mile.

Numeracy/Maths- We have been working hard on our subtraction learning, We have also been learning to tell the time half past on an analogue clock.
Literacy- Our new initial consonant blends were th and thr. We all enjoyed our reading books this week.
Science- We were learning about rainbows. We decorated CDs and displayed them on the window to make rainbows.
Health-We were learning more about staying safe when crossing the road.

Outdoor Learning- We made little dens for small animals using natural materials.
RME- We were learning about the religious festival ‘Holi’.

Happy Friday!

We have had another fun and hardworking week in Primary 1.

PE-We loved using some gymnastics equipment to practise our balancing, rolling and jumping skills. We enjoyed taking part in the mile.

Numeracy/Maths- We have been continuing to work hard on our subtraction and time learning. We enjoyed some time on Sum Dog.

Literacy- Our new initial consonant blends were sp, spr, and str. We all enjoyed our reading books this week. We enjoyed having our P7 Buddies back to share stories with us. We were working on our handwriting in our new jotters. We wrote letters to NASA. We can’t what to get a reply. We loved celebrating World Book Day. We took part in lots of fun activities. We all loved dressing up.

Art – We made a special surprise for our mums.

Health-We have been learning how to keep safe when crossing a road.
