Newport Nursery week 25.03.24 – 28.03.24

This week learning is… Exploring, Predicting, Being Curious, Literacy, Mathematics, Sharing, Self-Esteem, Creativity, Motor Skills, Turn Taking, Technology, Outdoor Learning and Problem Solving.

Well its soon time for the Easter Bunny to appear and the children are enjoying a range of Easter activities, stories and games. Through the week they have been involved in the Cosmic Easter Bunny yoga sessions, displaying skills to manoeuvre and follow a set of skills balancing their bodies in an array of poses. They showed skills to listen and when to talk or sing. Through the week the children have been involved in a range of Ester activities from games, music, songs stories craft and finally a Egg hunt down in the bottom garden, weather permitting.. They needed to listen to and follow the instructions of only finding one egg to allow all the chance to find one, this will support their growing awareness of being fair and  to show kindness and consideration towards others..

Some children have been busy using a range of technology in their play using the iPads to be creative to send or home. Or when using the light board and natural loose parts. Some children have been using the Lego to be creative in their designs. Some have made very detailed models and could confidently discuss these. While others have been using material to create dens inside and out. There has been lots of junk models being created , from cars, phones, treasure boxes, clocks to tell the time. One child created her own long lens camera to take her own pictures around the nursery. One child enjoyed sharing his own pizza outside using the sand. He had shared with the adult that he had made 8 slices.

The children are also showing skills to sequence familiar stories such as Little Red Riding Hood and The Hungry Caterpillar. They are enjoying showing their counting, matching and estimating skills to 20 whilst listening to 20 Bunnies before Bedtime.

Outside the team games are still popular and we are now observing some children displaying growing skills to play football and use bats and cones instead of balls.. They are using the cones to make their goals placing at each end of the area, using language to describe.

Conkers, stones, shells, tea cups, sticks, picture frames, plates, anything you think might be of used in nursery.
We are also on the lookout for two of kitchen chairs, if anyone is getting rid of them. We are looking to develop a new area in the playroom.
