Masterton Primary School

P5b

Hello and welcome to P5b!

Our class teacher is Mrs Quantick and we have 33 pupils in the class.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

P.E day will be a Tuesday with Mrs Roy. Please wear sportswear on this day. Some lessons may take place outside so dress for the weather!

This week we had a great time doing our volcano experiment.  We created a volcano using a bottle and brown paper.  We then mixed bicarbonate of soda (a base) with vinegar (an acid) to create carbon dioxide gas.  The chemical reaction caused the eruption of lava.  We then wrote a science report based on our experiment.  I was very impressed with the standards of the reports.  They were written in a logical order and headings were used.  In numeracy we have been rounding decimals to the nearest whole number and then adding the whole numbers together.

I will share a video of the experiment with the pupils on Glow.

Next Thursday is WORLD BOOK DAY! As part of this day we will be having a book swap with all the children in P5. If you would like to be part of this please have a look at home for a book that you no longer read that would be suitable to bring in for the book swap. You will then get to choose another book to bring home with you on this day.

HOMEWORK

Homework Due 2.3.26

Reading – See reading record for details of this. Some groups have been given an individual task to complete.  Pupils have had experience of doing all the tasks together as a group.  Now, pupils have individual tasks to complete so everyone will have something different to discuss.

Numeracy – to consolidate our learning a worksheet focusing on decimals has gone home this week.  Pupils have to create a decimal number with the digits given.  This number has to come between two given numbers.
