Pupil Council

September 2021- The pupil council have been busy working outdoors preparing for the next growing season. We have planted our seedlings into larger pots and selected plants that are supposed to be rabbit proof! We have painted the loose parts shed in a smart striped design ready for the loose parts.

October 2021 -The pupil council met with Mrs Simpson this month to discuss an exciting new project in collaboration with Edinburgh University. The school has received two CO2/temperature and light monitors to record the levels in two wings of the school. The primary 6 reps were able to tell the council that CO2  levels can have a negative impact on learning. The aim of the project is to introduce a greener environment to compensate and remove the CO2 to lower levels. More info on how you can help will come out at the end of term 1.

March – The pupil council met to discuss the new developments in the ‘Bumpy’ . They measured out the size of the new planters and discussed what they would like to plant in them.

The planters have now been ordered and we look forward to seeing them arrive late this term or early nest session. Thanks to all the children and the School council for all their hard work in making this new and exciting outdoor learning space evolve.

The sheds are to be painted with blackboard paint to allow learning outside and the Pupil Council talked about the kind of number/letter grids they would like painted on.

April – The school has also been working with the Botanic Gardens in St. Andrews to help ease the water-logging issues on the pitch and to develop a more environmentally diverse playground. The Botanics came on  Tuesday the 20th April and the Primary 7 and Pupil council planted a variety of native Scottish woodland trees. This included Ash, Hawthorn, Birch, Willow and Cherry
