Welcome to this weeks Rector’s Log, I hope you and your family are well.
The week that’s been…
We have had another exciting and busy week here at KHS with lots of learning and opportunities for our young people.
We have had over 70 young people engaged in the Fife Festival of Music, the first since 2019. It has been phenomenal experience for our young people to perform across a number of settings over this week. We have had soloists, ensembles, choir, wind band, string group, Sax group, Guitar club, singers and instrumentalists all performing for different audiences across the local area. The feedback for our young people has been outstanding and all are congratulated for their performances and effort. Well done to all, and special thanks to our Music department for their hard work and effort in organising and supporting our young people.
Yesterday, Ms Osborne and Ms Dalziel, accompanied some of our young people to the Scottish Parliament to receive the Vision Schools Scotland award for holocaust education. It was a fantastic event that celebrated the award and led to the formal receiving of the award. Well done to everyone who contributed to the hard work on gaining this prestigious award.
On Thursday, S4 took part in an assembly led by an ex-pupil, Louis King, who discussed his life in KHS and his journey afterwards that has led him to be a successful business person.
Today, our S5/6 had an assembly led by members the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service about the blood cancer charity Anthony Nolan. The aim was to raise awareness of the work of the charity and also to encourage volunteers to join the donor register. More information can be found on the letter attached to the Groupcall e-mail.
We also said Bon Voyage to young people and staff who are on their way to Austria for a ski trip. We wish them a safe and enjoyable journey and look forward to seeing and hearing all about it.
