New Houses at KHS!

Dear Parent / Carer,

Firstly, I want to extend my thanks to you for your support across our first term. It has been a very busy but productive term, with a small IT outage in the middle. Thank you.

Today, interviews took place for our 2 Principal Teacher Guidance Guidance posts and I am delighted to share that Suzanne Leiper (currently working with Oswald caseload) and Michael Geissler (currently supporting our inclusion base) have been appointed as permanent Guidance Teachers.

We have also closed the voting and I can reveal that our new houses will be named after castles. Therefore, our house teams from 26th October will be:

  • Seafield (green)
    • DHT (Depute Head Teacher) – Sandy Young
    • PTG (Principal Teacher Guidance)- Charlotte Kendrick
    • PTG – Suzanne Leiper
  • Ravenscraig (blue)
    • DHT – Sharon Hamilton
    • PTG – Emma Sim
    • PTG – Rachel Christie
  • MacDuff (purple)
    • DHT – Kirsten Hume
    • PTG – Jess Kerek
    • PTG – Michael Geissler
  • Wemyss (red)
    • DHT – Kerry Gibb
    • PTG – Ali Farquharson
    • PTG – Clare Donaldson

I met with all our House Captains earlier today to discuss their role going forward. Almost all are keen to continue to work in their current committee and be associated with an honorary house for the rest of this session. Therefore, there will be no change to the groups, braiding, associated colours etc. For the new session, we will ensure that each House is represented by House Captains from the House.

Poster advertising the KHS Halloween Disco for S1 and S2 pupils. The Halloween-themed poster features pumpkins, a black cat, bats and spooky decorations. The event takes place on Thursday 29 October from 6.00pm to 8.00pm. Tickets cost £3 per child, including sweets and drinks. Pupils are encouraged to attend in costume and enjoy games, music, food and refreshments.

Our Adam Smith House Captains are organising a Halloween Disco for young people in S1 and S2. It is on the 29th October from 6pm to 8pm in the school hall. Tickets are £3 per child and includes sweets and drinks.

I will share this and more in our end of term letter which will be shared on Monday.

Have a great weekend and I hope an enjoyable holiday.

Best wishes,

Chris McKay
