Dear Parent / Carer,
Welcome to our weekly family and community communication that provides a Headteacher overview of the weeks events and other school-based events and information.
The week that’s been…
This past week has just flown past, and the end of term is fast approaching!
Over this week, I have been meeting with and speaking to various colleagues and young people about a range of issues – from our school improvement plan and next steps following HMIE inspection to uniform, timetabling and much more. It has been exceptionally busy, but I am grateful to all our staff, families and our amazing young people for their input and insight.
On Tuesday, we had our final Parent / carer evening of the year as we welcomed S3 families and young people. A busy night for all but positive and productive with discussion about learning and next steps to support. It was great to speak to several families over the course of the evening too and our S5’s supported the whole event so well. Thank you to everyone for your time, input and discussion.
On Wednesday, I had a wee day out of KHS and Fife, visiting Lasswade High School in Midlothian with colleagues from across Fife. The purpose of the visit was to learn more about their curriculum offer, how to integrate digital across the curriculum and understand how they support Foundation Apprenticeships and work-based learning. Lots to think about and explore for our school and beyond.
Finally, it’s been a week of celebrating various successes across KHS in and out of faculties! We have had Business, Computing and Scientists of the week, cyber security and refereeing assessments all taking place across the week. If you want to read more about what is happening here at KHS, please follow our blog.
For attention of families and learners in S4-6:
Attached to the “Groupcall” is information from Maria Lloyd, Head of Service Education, relating to the upcoming examinations.
Also, please find more information from Qualifications Scotland about the upcoming exam diet – Your Exams – what you need to know.
Lastly, please note the following regarding transport:
Transport issue on 7 May and 1 June
The timings of the exams are dictated by Qualifications Scotland and as such sometimes fall on local holidays or In-Service days. This year there is Higher and Advanced Higher Mathematics on 7 May, which is an In-Service day. The Latin exam falls on 1 June for all levels, which is a holiday. Schools will be open for pupils who are sitting exams these days; however, school buses will not run.
