Our Week, Our School 05/12/25

Dear Parent / Carer,

Welcome to our weekly family and community communication that provides a Headteacher overview of the weeks events and

The week that’s been…

Over this week, we have had the continuation of our S4 assessments, S5/6 Parent / Carer evening and 50 of our young people were at ASDA playing music, singing and even doing a jig!

Over Monday to Wednesday, learners in S4 continued their formal assessments in the assembly hall. Mrs Davidson has remarked on how well all young people were doing and that their attitude and application was first class. As marking is well underway, we wish everyone the best of luck for this first formal assessment. For those who don’t do as well as they would want, they still have time to work hard and do well in the SQA exams in May. Well done to everyone for their efforts!

On Thursday, we welcomed families of our S5/6 to our formal Parent / Carer evening. It was a real pleasure to meet with our young people and families and hear how they were doing in their learning. A well-attended evening with lots of important discussions taking place. Thank you to all staff for their preparations for the event, and to learners and families for your attendance and support.

Today, we had a large group of young people supporting festivities at ASDA. Lots of Christmas cheer being spread to all and even some ceilidh dancing taking place! Well done to everyone involved in singing, dancing, playing, organising, supporting…!

Over the course of this week, we have had several staff absences, due to seasonal illnesses, that have affected learning in class, with some classes having to undertake learning in the hall / LRC. We hope this will improve next week. Please can we ask that young people have their iPad with them, charged and ready for learning. This is especially helpful if classes are displaced.

We have also had a dip in attendance of young people for similar reasons. Please remember to contact the school office, reply to text message or email to let us know if your child is unable to attend school.

The week ahead…

Next week, we have Flu immunisations taking place on Wednesday and the S5/6 Winter Formal is being held in KHS 7pm – 10pm on Thursday.

Wishing you an enjoyable weekend when it comes!

Best wishes,

Chris McKay
