Respect for Self, Others, and Learning

99. Blue Bulletin – Monday 19/04/21

MONDAY 19 APRIL

Hot Meal: Lentil soup, Pork and carrot meatballs with spaghetti, vegetables.

Dinner Hall (D Allan)
With the evidence clear that outside spaces are a far safer environment in terms of virus transmission, we have taken the decision to clear the dining hall at 1:25pm daily from today. Only Prefects will be allowed in this area after that time and they will support senior staff to usher all others out at 1:25pm. This will be adequate time to allow lunch to be served and consumed. Young people can socialise outdoors (without masks should they wish) after that time, avoiding any prolonged indoor contact. In wet weather we will make other arrangements. Thanks for all your ongoing help with all the safety measures we need to take.

S6 Prom (Mr Fulton)
Unfortunately, the decision has been made to cancel the prom once again. While the current situation is improving, it is very unlikely to be the case that the restrictions will have improved enough in 8 weeks time for over 100 people to gather legally and safely in such close proximity. The decision has been taken now in the hope that no one has begun preparations too soon. As well as yourselves, we are also keen to give the venue enough notice too. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to get in touch.

English Study Support (Miss Melville)
Miss Melville will be running English study support (focussing on RUAE) for all N5 & Higher this Tuesday instead of Wednesday this week, 3:20-4:20pm in B29.

Mr Sanderson’s S4 Classes (Mr Sanderson)
Mr Sanderson will be offering two sessions on answering history skills questions this week for his two S4 classes on Wednesday and Thursday (B9 at 3:15-4:15pm). Both sessions will be the same to allow for everyone to be able to attend. Any questions please come and see Mr Sanderson.

Ramadan 2021 (KHS Equalities Group)
Ramadan Kareem KHS! We would like to support everyone observing Ramadan this year. We realise Ramadan can be a difficult yet reflective time for Muslims so we would like to offer you a little bit of a sanctuary using Ms Mahr’s room in the first instance! If you need some quiet time for reflection or just need some time away from the food in the dinner hall, please head up to C12 during lunch and break for the duration of Ramadan and Ms Mahr will help you out! You are more than welcome to bring friends who are not fasting as well.

If any pupils feel as though they would like to pray starting from Thursday 15 April there will be a room available. The room is located next to Mr Allan’s office, where the operations room is. If you walk into there and instead of walking straight you turn to your second right, there is a small room where a prayer mat will be laid out and there is a sink to do wudhu as well. There will also be tasbih’s and Surah Yaseen available too. If anyone can’t find the room or has any questions, please ask Ramiza (S5) or Alisha (S2), thanks!
