Our Week, Our School 30/01/26

Dear Parent / Carer,

Welcome to our weekly family and community communication that provides a Headteacher overview of the weeks events and other school-based events and information.

The week that’s been…

It’s been a week full of exams, assemblies and a little spot of bad weather but everyone took it in their stride as always!

This week, our young people in S5/6 completed their formal assessments this week and colleagues will now mark and return this work to leaners over the coming weeks. It’s important to note that all learners will receive feedback and next steps to support moving forward. Well done to all!

On Wednesday, Mrs Gibb and I attended Valley and Capshard Primary Schools to complete the annual P7 roadshows. It was great to see families and young people from both settings. Lots of interesting questions and discussions throughout. Can’t wait to work more with our new (and old) families going forward.

On Thursday, we marked Holocaust Memorial Day with house assemblies. Ms Dalziel and a tram of young people and staff helped to organises, present and support this important and solemn occasion. Well done to everyone involved for marking this important occasion.

As ever, if you want to read more about what is happening here at KHS, please follow our blog.

Fife Council are seeking your views about your experience of the school and Education directorate through the Parentwise survey. To that end, we would ask you to share your views by completing the Parentwise survey using the link sent by “Groupcall” .

Please see below the House Points:

The week ahead…

Next week, we welcome families of S2/4/5 to our annual learning fair here in KHS on Monday 2nd February 2026. Information has been shared with families, and we look forward to welcoming you on Monday evening.

Fife Festival of Music also takes place across the week with many of our young people across all year groups participating – good luck to all!

A little advance notice that Wednesday 11th February is an INSET day and therefore school will be closed to young people. Thursday 12th and Friday 13th February are holidays.

Have a great weekend when it comes!

Best wishes,

Chris McKay
