Respect for Self, Others, and Learning

Rector’s Log 07/06/24

Welcome to this weeks Rector’s log. I hope you and your family are doing well.

The week that’s been…

One week of our new timetable down, 3 more to go…this term is flying past!

This week, young people in S1-5 changed timetable and moved up into their new year groups – S2 – S6. The change of timetable has been very smooth, with young people settling well into their new classes and routine.

On Wednesday, young people in S2 – S4 had assemblies, led by their new Year Heads. These assemblies were themed around setting our expectations, sustainability, road safety and the Olympics with the Olympic motto of “Faster – Higher – Stronger” being the core message about supporting our young people to achieve their potential.

A small reminder that the year heads have changed for each year group as follows (this was communicated last week in the Key Information document):

  • S1 – Mrs Gibb
  • S2 – Mr Young
  • S3 – Mrs Hamilton
  • S4 – Mrs Hume
  • S5/6 – Mrs Davidson

Today, we had our first new Friday after the change of timetable. We had some young people taking part in a range of activities and the transition went well. Thank you to all our families for supporting this.

We also held a celebration event for young people who took part in the Excelsior trip a few weeks ago. It was amazing to hear their stories from the trip, including learning how much hard work and effort they had to put in throughout the trip, how much they learned about themselves and how they became a very successful team. They shared their memories of the trip and their development as young people. Well done to all.

As ever, please click on our blog to keep up to date with all the latest goings on and celebrate the success of our young people too.

The week ahead…

Next week is one of our busiest of the academic year. We have the FoKHS AGM on Monday, followed by Prizegiving on Tuesday, P7 transition visits on Wednesday and Thursday, P7 Parent Information evening for families and finally Sports Day on Friday afternoon.

We look forward to seeing as many families and young people as possible at these various events.

Fingers crossed for some consistent, nice weather over the weekend. I hope you enjoy it, whatever you are doing.

Best wishes,

Chris McKay
