Welcome to this weeks Rector’s Log, I hope you and your family are well.
The week that’s been…
It has been a busy week here at KHS with young people continuing their learning both in and out of the classroom.
Young people in S4-6 continue to complete work and revision in preparation for their SQA examinations in the coming weeks. Some young people have been leaving school following assessments but before the end of the school day. It is extremely important that they attend school for the full day and attend classes to ensure that they complete all work related to the SQA courses they are undertaking and are supported through revision.
Mr Farquharson and I visited all S2 classes yesterday to check in with young people. As you will be aware, Mr Farquharson was recently appointed as Acting DHT and will take over from Mr Young as head of S2 from the beginning of next term. Young people were enthusiastic about their learning and were able to share what they were learning and why. Moreover, young people continue to look incredibly smart with almost all wearing their school uniform with pride.
Following Mr F being appointed as Acting DHT (Support), we have been busy interviewing this week and appointing other Acting roles as a result. Mrs Sim (PT Guidance Carlyle) was appointed as Acting PTC Guidance on Monday. Mr Sanderson (Teacher Social Subjects) was today appointed as Acting PT Guidance for Oswald house and will take over Mr F’s caseload.
As you will also be aware, Ms Squires has been appointed as PTC Support for Learning and will move to her new post at Madras College on 17th April 2023. As a result, we have appointed Mrs Wilkie (Teacher Supported Learning) as Acting PT Supported Learning to replace Ms Squires. All will commence their new roles on 17th April 2023.
Following last week’s assemblies, all pupils have been shown how to access the DYW Padlet on the school website, which is updated regularly with opportunities including work experience, in school opportunities as well as apprenticeships and job opportunities.
REMEMBER – It is good to gain experience as well as qualifications in school to make your CV and applications stand out.
If you are looking for something that is not advertised on the padlet – please see Mrs Whyte who will help out.
Fife College is throwing open its doors for three Open Days at the end of March. Further information is available on their website.
Lastly, we are seeking your views around school reports that you receive for your child. Please can you complete this short survey.
