Dear Parent/Carer
It is with very great sadness that I am in touch again this evening to share the heart-breaking news that Paige (S6) passed away on Wednesday evening. I think it’s likely that you may have already become aware of this through social media or word of mouth, but I wanted to be sure that Michelle, Paige’s mother, would want us to put out a formal communication like this before doing so. I managed to speak with her earlier this evening.
Paige was an exceptional young woman, who made a huge impact wherever she went. She had a truly remarkable personality which almost literally, brought out the sunshine. Everything was a wee bit brighter and better when Paige was around. She was Head Girl at Fair Isle Primary and in our school, her particular passions were music and drama … Paige excelled in both fields. Many of us will never forget her amazing performance in “School of Rock”, our school show in 2019. It was not long after that when Paige was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a very rare form of bone cancer. She spent two years, often in hospital, in and out of remission, before passing away peacefully at home surrounded by her family this week.
In the final year of her life, Paige took her song writing and performing to a different level and was involved in collaborations with Callum Beattie and Ella Henderson, with whom she recorded a top selling single. Maybe you saw a report on STV earlier this evening?
Our thoughts, and prayers, are very much with Michelle, who can maybe be comforted in knowing that she raised such a remarkable daughter. Our sympathy is with all of the family; Paige’s dad, step-dad and brother especially. Condolences go to Cameron too, Paige’s fiancé. Cameron left KHS last summer. May I also take a moment to thank Jess Kerek, her Guidance Teacher, who was a terrific supporter throughout Paige’s time at Kirkcaldy High.
Please be aware of the fund-raiser which has been initiated in Paige’s memory by her dear friend Dominika Valente, another former student of KHS. You can donate via “gofundme“.
We’ll share information on funeral arrangements and the school’s plans to remember Paige in due course.
Sincerely
Derek Allan
