Respect for Self, Others, and Learning

111. Blue Bulletin – Friday 07/05/21

FRIDAY 7 MAY

Hot Meal: Vegetable soup, Breaded fish/salmon fish fingers, chips and peas or beans or Vegetable chilli rice and salad.

Library Printer (J Davidson)
Pupils will be unable to access the library printer during the day as this disturbs pupils who are sitting assessments, please send work to an alternative printer in the subject department.

Library Closure (J Davidson)
The library will be used for assessment arrangements so will be closed to pupils. All S6 who have a study period should use the IT Hub or Dinner hall. There may be cases when S6 can use a classroom in a department but this must be confirmed by the PTC as some rooms are also being used for Assessment Arrangements.

Mental Health Awareness Week (Miss Hay)
Next week will be mental health awareness week in the UK. This week is important to help us start conversations about our mental health and the things in our life that can affect it. This year’s theme is Nature and why connecting with nature can improve your mental health. Nature has been particularly important for us all this year to help with lockdown and keep connected with others. At KHS, we would like to share these positive stories about how nature (or something else) helps us to nurture our mental health. Keep an eye on the @MentalKHS Twitter next week to see these positive stories. We would love both staff and pupils to be involved in this so if you would like to share a story see/email Miss Hay in B6 or message the Twitter account. You can also find more information about Mental Health Awareness Week and the support available on our KHS Mental Health Toolkit. This currently cannot be accessed on the school network but can still be accessed on phone networks and outside school. We are working on the Toolkit to make sure we can access it on the school network soon.

Ramadan 2021 (KHS Equalities Group)
Ramadan Kareem KHS! We would like to support everyone observing Ramadan this year. We realise Ramadan can be a difficult yet reflective time for Muslims so we would like to offer you a little bit of a sanctuary using Ms Mahr’s room in the first instance! If you need some quiet time for reflection or just need some time away from the food in the dinner hall, please head up to C12 during lunch and break for the duration of Ramadan and Ms Mahr will help you out! You are more than welcome to bring friends who are not fasting as well.

If any pupils feel as though they would like to pray starting from Thursday 15 April there will be a room available. The room is located next to Mr Allan’s office, where the operations room is. If you walk into there and instead of walking straight you turn to your second right, there is a small room where a prayer mat will be laid out and there is a sink to do wudhu as well. There will also be tasbih’s and Surah Yaseen available too. If anyone can’t find the room or has any questions, please ask Ramiza (S5) or Alisha (S2), thanks!
