The Digital Schools Award Scotland is a national awards scheme to promote, recognise and encourage a whole school approach to the use of digital technology in schools. The awards scheme is open to nursery, primary, special education, and secondary level and is recognised by Education Scotland.
In Fife there are currently 109 settings registered and 27 of these have achieved the Digital Schools Award (correct as of February 2024).
To be awarded, settings engage with a self-evaluation around the following five areas:
- Leadership and Vision
- Use of Digital Technology to Deliver the Curriculum
- School Culture
- Professional Development
- Resources and Infrastructure
Once completed, settings can apply for validation where a validator will assess against the self-evaluation submission and schools can showcase their use of digital technology.
The Digital Schools Award supports settings by providing a roadmap for improvement in digital technologies, planning on how to integrate digital technology across the curriculum, establishing appropriate internet use and cyber resilience at all levels of learning, boosting teacher and learner confidence and adoption in digital technology, and supporting skills development in young people.
Settings in Fife are supported to register and engage with the Digital Schools Award.
