Session 26-27
Improvement Priority 1: Supporting Communication and Language
To help every child develop communication and language skills.
Being able to listen, understand, express ideas, and communicate with others helps children build relationships, develop confidence, and enjoy success in their learning.
To support this we will….
💬 Use Communication High 5 approaches throughout the nursery to encourage positive interactions, conversations, and language development during everyday play and learning.
🌟 Identify and support children who may need extra help with their learning and communication, working closely with families and partner agencies to ensure the right support is in place.
📚 Strengthen partnerships with families by:
- Encouraging children to join their local library and enjoy books at home.
- Sharing Communication High 5 strategies that can be used in everyday family life.
- Offering Let’s Connect Sessions to families in our Under 3’s where families can learn more about supporting communication and language development.
📈 Carefully monitor children’s progress using clear tracking systems to ensure all children are making positive progress and receiving any support they need.
Improvement Priority 2: Supporting Children’s Wellbeing and Emotional Development
To continue to strengthen the ways we support children’s wellbeing and emotional development.
We will be using a range of approaches to help children build confidence, resilience, positive relationships, and a strong sense of belonging.
To support this we will….

- Take part in recycling and reuse projects.
- Help make decisions about eco-friendly activities within the nursery.
- Develop an understanding of how their actions can make a positive difference.
🗣️ Children’s Rights
We are committed to ensuring that children’s rights are at the heart of everything we do. This means:
- Listening to children’s views and ideas.
- Encouraging children to make choices and take part in decisions that affect them.
- Providing a welcoming, inclusive environment where everyone feels respected and valued.
