Nursery Information

Attendance Patterns:

Here you will find our holiday dates for session 2023 – 2024

Communication:

We are using a communication app called Seesaw. This is used by many nurseries in Fife and helps us share your child’s experiences and learning through play in nursery. It is also used to communicate day-to-day messages and it is therefore worth making sure notifications are turned on. You will receive separate information about this.

Nursery Donation:

A donation of £2.00 per week helps us to buy snack, baking ingredients, presents at Christmas time and lots of other resources for the Nursery. If you wish to make a donation, this can be paid by cash, cheque or bank transfer. You will receive a separate letter that give you more details about this. Please do not worry if this donation is a difficulty for you.

Contact details:

It is really important that we have all of your up to date contact details and emergency contact details.  If any of your details change throughout the year, then please let us know.

Toys:

We request that children do not bring their own toys to nursery.

Clothing:

The children’s clothes will be messy! At least one full change of clothes should be provided and placed in their nursery drawstring bag and extra socks and pants is advisable. On sunny days a sunhat should be provided from home.

During the wetter and colder months it is particularly important that parents are aware that we will be outside in all weathers, therefore appropriate outdoor clothing and changes of clothes are needed. In the event we do not have clothing to change your child we will phone emergency contacts to provide these as and when required.

PLEASE LABEL ALL ITEMS CLEARLY – Thank you!

Illness:

Please inform us if your child is going to be absent and the reason for their absence.

In the event your child has sickness and/or diarrhoea the key message is for infected pupils to stay at home for the 48 hours after symptoms have stopped, to avoid spreading any further. Symptoms can include slight fever, headaches, stomach cramps and aching limbs.

Medication:

If your child requires medication in nursery during their nursery session, then this must be prescribed medication that is clearly labelled, and appropriate tools provided (medication spoon/syringe). Nursery staff cannot administer the first dose of any medication. If you give your child medication before their nursery session, then please inform staff and complete the relevant paperwork.

Progress Reviews

Our staff are always happy to discuss how your child is getting on in nursery and we are available if you need some support or advice. We will invite you to join us for progress meetings throughout your child’s time at nursery, where your child’s keyworker will discuss your child’s progress in nursery.  These meetings will be planned across the duration of your child’s time in nursery and are a super opportunity to decide and discuss your child’s next steps together.

Toileting:

If your child is in nappies, please ensure you provide adequate supplies of nappies, wipes and nappy sacks. If your child is toilet training, we will try our upmost to mirror the approach you have adapted at home, it is essential this is openly discussed with your child’s keyworker to ensure everyone gets it right for your child.

Toothbrushing

The children have the opportunity to brush their teeth daily at nursery, supervised by a member of staff.  Childsmile work with the nursery to ensure good oral health is promoted and maintained.  We have regular visits from members of their team who deliver lovely informal chats with the children to emphasise the importance of toothbrushing. This programme runs with the option to ‘opt out’ for those parent/carers who do not wish for their child to take part.
