The Determined to Succeed initiative is designed to develop pupils’ awareness and understanding of ‘enterprise’ and how this can positively effect their lives.
Block 1 2009/10
This year looks set to be as busy as last as we move forward with our determined to succeed initiative. This term looks set to be jam packed with events. The children will have the opportunity to learn all about the world of work. They will explore how their school curriculum is designed to help them face the challenges of different career paths that are available to them once they are ready to take that step. A whole school event is to be held from the 28th September to 3rd October. Watch out for the feed back of this huge event next block.
The upper school will be taking part in World Space Week. This is a global event where countries from all round the world explore the developments in space exploration. This initiative is lead by the United Nations and focuses on giving children the opportunity to develop their knowledge of space as well as the technology developed and that is currently being developed to further our knowledge of the universe.
Mrs. Wright’s class are looking at rocket technology and will build and launch their designs. Mrs. Watson’s class will be investigating pollution in space and what we can do to tackle this problem. Mrs. Mackie’s class will be learning all about the orbits of the planets in our solar system and plan and make a working model to show this. Mrs. Mackay’s boys and girls will be looking at the moon and creating a diary of its different phases. The event will take place from 5th to 10th October. The event will be showcased to the whole school next term.
