Parent Council Meetings are normally held the first Tuesday of each month – check the Parent App to confirm dates and times.Â
A Parent Council is the group of parents chosen by all the parents (the Parent Forum) to represent them.
Objectives
The objectives of the Parent Council are:-
- To work in partnership with the school to create a welcoming school which is inclusive for all parents.
- To promote partnership between the school, its pupils and all its parents.
- To develop and engage in activities and fundraising events which support education and welfare of the pupils.
- To identify and represent the views of parents on the education provided by the school and others matters affecting the education and welfare of the pupils.
What is the role of a Parent Council member?
- To be effective and help and support all parents.
- To identify common issues arising from parent discussions.
- To pass on practical information to parents where necessary.
- To help support and develop extra curricular and fund raising activities.
- To maintain confidentially at all times.
Summary of the Constitution
- Anyone who has a child at the school can be a member of the Parent Council.
- The Parent Council will have a minimum of 6 and no maximum number of members.
- Members will normally serve for a period of 2 years.
- The Headteacher will have the right to attend or to be represented at Parent Council meetings.
- Some members of the Parent Council will have an additional role as Chair/Secretary/Treasurer.
- The Parent Council will meet at least once (or more often if required/requested by parents) in every school term and 6 times throughout the school year.
- The Annual Meeting will be held in May each year.
