Communication

We realise communication is quite daunting – here is a rough guide.

  • Teachers will use the SeeSaw App to communicate specific updates and reminders for their class, their termly learning letter which overviews their plans and they may also share some photos. We have kept Seesaw so that parents can message the teacher but please remember the following…
  • Please be mindful that if you are requiring a reply that teachers may not be able to get back to you quickly or even on the same day. Teachers may only be able to respond during working hours and may be limited in what they can respond to. Any important information such as appointments/absence/holidays/changes in circumstances around pick ups must be communicated by phoning or emailing the school office. For absence the parent portal can be used to record an absence officially also. Your teacher may not be the person with your child that day for any reason so it is essential that the message goes to the office to communicate to whoever is in class.
  • Please ensure that the school office are advised of absences as soon as possible and before or soon after 9am (no later than 9.15am). We chase up all absences that we have not been informed about. Please give the reason for absence on message so we can record accurately.
  • Groupcall texts or emails will mainly be used by the senior management team and office for updates. However class teachers will also ask the office to send things out via this method at times also.
  • On a Friday, via Groupcall, we send out a weekly diary for the following week which is on our school Blog. You can access the school blog any time by searching for ‘Canongate School Glow Blog’ on the Internet. This is currently being updated.
