Supporting Wellbeing

Support for families in financial hardship

As a school we try hard to reduce the cost of the school day, but we are aware that many families in our community will be worried or impacted by the cost of living crisis.

If there is a concern there are some agencies that we can signpost families, such as:

  • The Big Hoose
  • The Toy Drive for Christmas Toy Drive Poster
  • The Little Clothing Bee based in Lower Largo (find on Facebook) Offer free clothing for children 0-12 years.  Good for a cosy coat, general clothing or party outfit.

There is a new our.fife.scot/GetHelp website which brings together links to all the advice and support available from the council, government, partners, community groups. It’s a one-stop resource to help our families access a range of supports.

  • online benefits / entitlement calculator within the income section of the website
  • freephone community support helpline for people who can’t get online or want to discuss complex situations – 0800 952 0330

Health advice

Group A Strep

Group A strep is a common bacteria which causes mild infections. These infections are usually easily treated, but on rare occasions they can become more serious.

At this time of year there are lots of viruses circulating that cause children to be unwell, and it is more likely a child is ill from one of these than group A strep. In this video, consultant paediatrician at the Victoria Hospital, Dr John Morrice, talks about what to look out for if your child is unwell, and when you may need to seek medical assistance.

Fife’s Neurodevelopmental Webpage

As part of the Neurodevelopmental Assessment Pathway – Test of Change in the West of Fife, we are launching a website to signpost staff and families to. The purpose of the site is to clarify what we mean by Neurodevelopment, and to provide information on referral, diagnosis and the support

available. Going forward, this will be a crucial tool in how we share information on our processes and the advice we can make available to families

You can leave your feedback at the end of each page.
