A Magical Nativity Moment for Our Primary 1 and 2 Pupils

Our Primary 1 and Primary 2 children delivered a wonderful school nativity performance. With bright smiles, confident voices, and plenty of enthusiasm, our youngest pupils took to the stage and reminded us all what this special time of year is really about.

For  Primary 1 children, this was their very first school performance. They played their roles with care and excitement. Our Primary 2 pupils were fantastic narrators and they all proudly sang their songs.

The children worked hard in the weeks leading up to the performance, learning songs, practising lines, and rehearsing movements. Through this process, they developed important skills such as teamwork, listening, and confidence, while also learning about the Christmas story in a meaningful and memorable way.

The nativity was filled with joyful singing, colourful costumes, and moments that made everyone smile. From angels and shepherds to Mary, Joseph, and the stars lighting the way, every child played an important part in making the performance a success.

We are incredibly proud of all our Primary 1 and 2 pupils for their hard work and positive attitudes. A big thank you also goes to our staff and families for their support in helping the children prepare for this special event.

Well done to our young performers for spreading so much Christmas cheer – you truly shone on stage!

Christmas Carol Concert at the Old Kirk

Primary 5, 6 and 7 pupils enjoyed a festive visit to the Old Kirk to attend a Christmas Carol Concert with all of the Bo’ness cluster primary schools. Pupils retold the Christmas story and joined together to sing a selection of well-known carols.

This lovely morning at the Old Kirk always creates a strong sense of community as schools came together to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas. Our pupils represented the school very well, singing enthusiastically and behaving respectfully throughout.

The concert was a memorable and meaningful way to mark the festive season, and pupils thoroughly enjoyed sharing this special experience with other local schools.

Measuring for Our New Stained Glass Windows

Our Primary 7 pupils have been busy taking part in a very special project as we prepare our new holy space in school. This week, the children worked together to measure the windows that will soon be transformed with beautiful stained glass designs.

Using their everyday numeracy skills, the pupils carefully measured the height and width of each window, recording their results and checking them as a team. They discussed which tools to use, compared measurements, and supported one another to make sure their work was accurate.

This hands-on activity was a wonderful example of learning in action. The children demonstrated excellent teamwork, communication, and thinking skills, while also seeing how maths is used in real-life situations. Measuring the windows helped them understand why accuracy is so important, especially when creating something meaningful for a shared space.

We can’t wait to see how their hard work contributes to the finished stained glass windows and to our new holy space, which will be a place of reflection and calm for our whole school community.

Primary 6 Faith Award Pupils Find Inspiration at St Mary’s Cathedral

Our Primary 6 Pope Francis Faith Award pupils enjoyed a truly inspiring trip to St Mary’s Cathedral in Edinburgh, accompanied by Mr McPeake, as part of their ongoing preparation to design and create our very own holy space in school.
From the moment they stepped inside the Cathedral, the children were struck by the beauty and calm of the building. Guided through the space, they spent time exploring the stunning religious paintings, detailed stained-glass windows, and the peaceful prayer areas that make the Cathedral such a special place. Each artwork and design element sparked new ideas about how we might bring a sense of reverence, colour and meaning into our school environment.
The pupils noticed how lighting, symbols, and artwork can help create a space that encourages prayer and reflection. They also discussed what elements might work best in our own school setting.
Mr McPeake was delighted with the enthusiasm shown throughout the visit. He said the pupils’ thoughtful questions and observations showed just how committed they are to their Faith Award journey.
The visit has definitely inspired our pupils, who are now excited to begin planning how they will transform their ideas into a meaningful, welcoming holy space for the whole school community to enjoy. We can’t wait to see what they create!

Primary 4’s Advent Assembly

This week, our Primary 4 pupils led  a thoughtful and joy-filled Advent Assembly. Each year, as we prepare our hearts for Christmas, this assembly is always a special moment and Primary 4 certainly rose to the occasion.

The children shared their Advent promises, speaking with sincerity about the small but meaningful ways they hope to bring kindness, patience, and joy to others throughout the season. From helping at home to being a supportive friend in school, their promises reflected a deep understanding of what Advent truly means.

Primary 4 also treated us to beautiful singing and Makaton signs, filling the hall with warmth and hope. We are incredibly proud of our Primary 4 pupils for their hard work and enthusiasm. Thank you to the staff who supported them, and to the families who joined us in celebration.

Well done, Primary 4, for a wonderful start to the Advent season!

Boxfit Taster Sessions

Today, our school was buzzing with excitement as coaches from the a local boxing gym, GCB, joined us to deliver a series of BoxFit taster sessions for our pupils. And what a knockout experience it was!

The children were fully engaged – laughing, learning, and pushing themselves in ways many had never tried before. The sessions blended basic boxing techniques with fun, energetic fitness activities, giving every child a chance to experience the sport in a safe and supportive environment.

The coaches introduced the fundamentals of boxing footwork, simple combinations, and agility drills. They then mixed in high-energy fitness games that had the kids bobbing, weaving, jumping, and working together.

We’re incredibly grateful to the GCB team for giving their time, energy, and expertise.  The feedback from pupils has been overwhelmingly positive – many have already asked when the coaches are coming back!
