description about peacock. peacock are a type of large pheasant known for their beautiful colored feathers. Their tail feathers, also called coverts, make up more than 60 percent of the birds’ total body length, with only males having the colorful blue and green iridescent feathers. Females are smaller and have grey or brown feathers.

diet.They actively hunt insects like ants, crickets and termites; millipedes; and other arthropods and small mammals. Indian peafowl also eat small snakes. Domesticated peafowl may also eat bread and cracked grain such as oats and corn, cheese, cooked rice and sometimes cat food.

young. Peacock babies are called peachicks, though you won’t find any peachicks at Sacrewell as we only have male peacocks and no peahens.

habitat. Peacocks are ground-dwelling birds, eating insects, plants, fruit, seeds, ants, flies, snakes andamphibians. They live in forests, farmland, bushland and other warm regions with easy access to low trees. Even though peacocks are widely seen in many Asian countries, they are dominant in India, Sri Lanka and Myanmar.
